7 Bedroom House in Bamfield

Dragonfly is a large and spacious artist built house with high vaulted ceilings and lots of windows. We have two separate suites; the upper and lower suite which can be rented together or separately, depending on the group size. The upper suite has 5 bedrooms and the lower suite has 2 bedrooms. Both suites have large self contained kitchens, lots of windows and high ceilings. This 4000 square foot house is Ideal for large groups or small single families. The property is located on 3 acres, forested in the back with a large grassy yard in front. There is a view of the ocean and we are just a 5 minute walk to beautiful, sandy Brady's Beach. There are lots of different hikes and walks, fishing, whale watching near by. The owners live on the property. Pick up and drop off on the west side is included.
The upper suite is 5 bedrooms, has a large kids play area and a large living and dining area. There are vaulted ceilings with lots of windows and skylights to let the natural light in. The lay out allows large groups to stay together without feeling cramped.
The garden suite is a self contained two bedroom suite. It has one bathroom, a large kitchen, heated tile floors and living room with a woodstove. It has exposed wooden beams, high ceilings and lots of windows.
About Bamfield
Bamfield is located at the northern end of the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island and is renowned for its rugged West Coast beauty. East and West Bamfield are divided by an inlet, making it just a 5 minute boat ride to the west side to where we are located. Once you arrive on the eastside, you will need to take a 5 min water taxi ride across to the Westside. We will then pick you up and take you to the house. Everything on the Westside is accessible within a 20 min walk. There is a grocery store located on the boardwalk, which stretches along the inlet, ideal for an easy walk. There are more challenging walks and hikes in the forest as well.
West Bamfield has a walking culture and there is no need for a vehicle. However the owners live on site and are more than happy to give guests a ride if you have difficulties walking or are picking up groceries from the local shop. Just ask!

Summary: We rented the Dragonfly for our entire family and some friends. It is very close to the beach, with even some ocean view from the upper terrace. We did some incredible star-gazing. The set up works perfectly for big groups, where the downstairs is not only huge but has a great kitchen. Upstairs is also massive, with lots of rooms and space. There is a fantastic children's play area, equipped with a 3-wheel stroller, pack and play, and more. This was perfect for my family members with children. The hosts were wonderful and accommodating and helped us a lot. We appreciate everything they did and their beautiful home. Highly recommend the Dragonfly!

Summary: Bamfield is one of my favourite places to go to recharge. You are a part of nature the minute you step from your vehicle, and as it is a walking culture in Bamfield, you will thankfully not have to return to your vehicle until the day of your departure. Staying with Dragonfly is as simple as life gets. The place is well appointed and meticulously maintained. We have always been there as a small party but it would easily accommodate a larger family as well. What I love is the short walk out the door and you're on the beach. Your hosts Mandy and Mateusz are knowledgeable and caring folk who are really making a difference in terms of keeping our world sustainable and stress-free.

Summary: This is our favourite annual family get-away spot. It takes some effort to get here - 80+ km on a logging road from Port Alberni, and then a water taxi ride - but the rugged beauty of West Bamfield, and the spaciousness and all the special touches of this property make it well worth the journey. Our kids love returning year after year. Mandy and Mateusz make us feel completely at home. Thank you!

Summary: Every year we bring our extended family of 22 to this wonderful location. You have to take a water taxi to get here, which gives it a special vibe that we love. Everyone on the island is laid back and friendly and we love walking around the island and down the hill to the beach. Mandy and Mateusz are wonderful hosts and keep everything in great shape. The small kids love the playroom, and we all love that the house is so big that we all have lots of space. We usually take a water taxi and hike the 14km round trip to Maybins beach on the west coast trail. The last few years we have gone out with JP's fishing for some huge halibut! It is a fun adventure and delicious. We look forward to next years to trip such a wonderful location!

Summary: This is a beautiful property for a large group. It is creatively decorated, very clean and well-maintained. The owners were super-friendly and helpful from the minute we first made our plans until our departure. The house was very spacious, with enough room for our family of 18 people to spread out and have privacy. The kitchen was well-stocked and had lots of prep room for meals. (There is another whole kitchen that we did not need to use). The three levels allowed for lots of privacy. The view is amazing and the beach is fantastic- a few minutes' walk down the road. We enjoyed the little village of Bamfield- also a short walk away, and the cute boardwalk area. The property description was totally accurate. We would highly recommend this property to others, and really hope to get back ourselves in the near future!! Thank you Mandy for all of your help, the information, your great kids and dog and the salmon!!

Summary: This place is magical. The house is lovely and comfortable, with beautiful art, a great kitchen and comfortable beds. Coffee on the front porch, with it's peekaboo view of the ocean was restful and refreshing. The solarium play area kept my children happily occupied when we were indoors. Brady's Beach, just a short walk down the hill, was spectacular, with beautiful sand and amazing tidal pools. Mandy and Mateusz are wonderful hosts. We didn't want to leave, and we will be returning for sure.

Summary: We used the Dragonfly house (full house) as a launching point for a group of West Coast Trail hikers and it was well worth the short water taxi ride from Bamfield. A beautiful property and extremely helpful and accommodating owners who even arranged to come pick us up and take us to the house. The house is luxurious and beautifully (and artistically) decorated. Highly recommended for family or friends groups. Spacious and lovely.
