4 Bedroom Villa in Camporgiano, Poggio

Detached house with private pools in the un-spoilt, totally non-commercialised, green & mountainous Garfagnana region of north Tuscany. The views from the house & pool are fantastic, and the grounds, with their own orchards a perfect place to relax.
The property is beautifully, newly renovated, with sleeping accommodation/shower-rooms are split over 2 floors - an ideal choice for 2 families.
There is a large well equipped farmhouse style kitchen with eating area with , dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, and a living room with two comfy sofas, open fire and satellite TV. WIFI.
In the basement there is a separate laundry area.
Outside there are 2 terraces, BBQ private pool and large garden.
The grounds are beautiful, mature, and well kept, with lots of flowers and colour, with a pretty orchard adjacent. Out to the front are beautiful lush views of the Apennine mountain range....
The area is dominated by the hills and mountains surrounding the valley, and there are hill top villages in abundance awaiting your exploration, as well as the local Natural Parks.
This is the 'real' Italy.
The house is situated at the end of a private lane, a 2 minute drive from the mountain village of Poggio, which itself is located circa 10/15 minutes from local market town of Castelnuovo - less than 1 hour north of Lucca.
The area is ideal for a totally relaxing holiday in the countryside with fantastic views at every turn whatever the time of year. Explore the hundreds of hill-top villages, go walking/horse riding/fishing, or for a bike ride. Relax with a glass of wine and watch locals play Bocce, or spectate at the cheese rolling for which the area is famous! In the autumn join in the local passion of mushroom picking, or feast on chestnuts roasted on your fire!
Tourism is yet to hit this area, and this is truly one of those increasingly rare places in Europe where you can experience the real way of life of the locals.

Cuisine: Garfagnanan cuisine is fairly simple, but scrumptious, using local fresh produce to prepare dishes, which since they are prepared in the main for the locals are very cheap!
The local wine is good, and also extremely inexpensive.
Plenty of places to picnic in seclusion, with provisions easily found in local bars/shops as well as the occasional supermarket.
Locals: The locals are very friendly and helpful.
Pool closed October - April. If pool required during those will be E100 surcharge required.

Summary: Everything was fantastic, the host, the house, the pool, the view! High in the mountains. Village nearby. The road down the coast is a bit hard, but reality cool to experience! Overall a really good stay!!

Summary: Our group of six friends had a beautiful vacation at this amazing property. The house was perfect and comfortable, and the grounds and pool were so well kept. Our host, Ilario, gave us a great welcome and many ideas of things to do in the area, and he also gave us some of his home-grown vegetables. With their help, we were able to book a chef to come to the house and give us an Italian cooking lesson, and another day we fired up the wood pizza oven and made our own pizza dinner. This is a gorgeous part of the world, and we had an amazing time. Highly recommend.

Summary: The house is very nice and so is the landlord. He comes every morning to clean the pool:) The view from the house is also very nice. The garden is huge and beautiful. There are a lot of serpentine roads which you need to travel to reach the house and also cities nearby. Beach, Lucca, Pisa, cinque terre are all about 1h-1.30h away. The weather was a bit rainy (first week in June) and it was not very warm (22 degrees). I do not know though whether this is usual, or was exceprtional. Anyway, the house is somewhat in the mountains but not very high altitude (I think it was about 800 hm).

Summary: A comfortable villa, with good walks on the doorstep - within easy reach of Lucca, Pisa etc. Functional, yet comfortable - well-equipped kitchen. We were a group of 2 families - location and house worked well for us. Lovely town nearby (Castenuovo)- with decent supermarket and good for ice-creams and restaurants! Owner extremely welcoming and friendly - gave us some great pointers for local days out.
