Our south facing farmhouse dates back to the 17th century and has been fully restored whilst maintaining its original style and character. It has beautiful wooden chestnut floors in the first floor bedrooms which forms the beamed ceiling for the kitchen and living room below. We have exposed stonework on various walls with an oak staircase leading from the kitchen to the upstairs. The attractive glazed arrow slit windows are a feature of the living room which has patio doors leading to the tranquil outdoor area. There are views of meadows, garden and/or woodland from all of the farmhouse windows. This edge of woods farmhouse home has a feeling of tranquillity and seclusion with lots of relaxing space; it is in an area where you can rely on not being disturbed.
There is a well equipped kitchen which houses a large sociable table, sofa and children’s toys (if needed). The kitchen leads to an outdoor patio eating area with a large table, parasol and BBQ.
We have a new swimming pool with roman steps which is equipped with a safety cover. There are comfortable sun loungers, parasols and tables on the patio area near the pool.
Our welcome pack for your arrival includes wine, biscuits, tea and milk to allow you to begin your holiday comfortably.
You can soak up the wonderful atmosphere at Sans Souci, and relax in the perfect sanctuary of our farmhouse. If you also want to explore the area, you will be spoilt for things to do. Several of the most beautiful villages in France are within a 40min drive away including Monpazier, Limeuil and Belves. There are river boat cruises at Beynac, Roque Gageac and Bergerac. There is a forest adventure park near Sarlat. The historic capital of the Dordogne is Perigeux with its spectacular cathedral. St Emillion, the oldest wine area of the Bordeaux region is within easy reach by car. Caves at Lascaux approximately 17,300 years old with stunning and unique cave paintings are not to be missed for anyone interested. Children’s activities include the nearby aqua park, indoor and outdoor play parks, & various museums. La Bugue area has lots of family activities including amusements, aquarium, an animal park and a themed village.
The farmhouse has good level wheelchair access at the front doors which leads to the ground floor bedroom and level access shower. The ground floor beds have been purchased with disabled people in mind and the level access shower area has a higher toilet, flip down shower seat and wide basin. Of course this area is suitable for everybody, including children.
We have plenty of varied and interesting wildlife living close by. Red squirrels & birds can be seen in the garden and if you keep your eyes peeled, there are deer, hares and otters around locally.
Local amenities: The medieval village of Issigeac, about 3km from the farmhouse, with its local shops, (there are larger supermarkets within a twenty minute drive) good restaurants, and bakers. The market on Sunday mornings is well worth the short trip. Get there early as it can get very busy, but there is plenty of parking. The tourist office in Issigeac is very helpful, but we also keep a selection of brochures in the house for our guest’s information.
The tourist office has free internet which means you can use it while sat enjoying a nice glass of wine or coffee at the local cafe.

Summary: The location is so peaceful. It’s a 4 minute drive to Issigeac which is beautiful. There is a boulangerie and small shop so very convenient. There are also bars, restaurants and lovely shops. The market on Sunday is great. The house is perfect. The kitchen is well laid out and has everything you need. The outdoor space is great and the pool is fantastic. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again

Summary: Super house, pool still warm without heating! Issigaec is a stunning old village, bread shop, fabulous Sunday market.....not to be missed. Very pretty area, close to Bergerac and airport. Comfort in abundance, home from home. Two weeks wasn't long enough- highly recommend!

Summary: The house is in a beautiful setting and well designed for a holiday for 6. The swimming pool was a great success with children and adults and the terrace was sheltered with nice sun shades. The area is beautiful and we were very taken by Issigeac and Bergerac.

Summary: We spent two weeks at Sans Souci during August - my wife, mother-in-law, 1yr old twins, a three year old and I. Despite the size of our party, the Gite was more than big enough to cope. It is a beautiful property inside and out, everything is of high quality and we wanted for nothing during our holiday - there is even a decent collection of toys for the kids!!! The owners have thought of things that even we hadn't. All of the bedrooms are large, the kitchen is massive and well equipped, there are 3 modern bathrooms and everything works as it should. You can see no expense has been spared on this property. Outside, the covered seating area is brilliant, the gas bbq is big enough to feed a large family and the pool area is immaculate and again the outside furniture down to the parasols is very high quality. The location is about perfect, very peaceful, plenty of space yet only 2.5miles (I clocked it on gps!) from Issigeac, our favourite of the Bastide towns in this part of France. Whilst it is of course walkabe/cycleable, you do really need a car as Issigeac is where the nearest shops/bakers/butchers/restaurants etc are. However, you can get everything you need in Issigeac, it's a beautiful little town. Get there early for the Sunday morning market (gets crazy busy) and for the various evening food markets as these are also getting busier every year. There are brilliant bakers and butchers in Issigeac but for the big supermarket shop, you're not far from Bergerac where you have every big chain present. All in all, a brilliant holiday in a perfect Gite. Yes, it is expensive but you absolutely get what you pay for. Book this with absolutely no worries about what you'll find when you get there - it's categorically a 5 star Gite.

Summary: We had a great time at Sans Souci. We have stayed in many gites across France but this was one of the best; spacious, clean and very well equipped. Pool a real boon on hot days and if you have easily bored teenagers in tow. It's in a quiet hamlet just a few minutes drive from the lovely village of Figeac and not far from wine tasting opportunities around Bergerac and Monbazillac. Lots of chateaux, bastide towns and canoeing opportunities not far away. Would love to come back again!

Summary: Better than described, this is a really well presented property in terms of the quality of restoration, condition and facilities. The location is peaceful and pleasant but only a 3km drive from Issigeac, we regularly walked into the village for fresh bread, to sit outside a café, or to dine. Don't miss the Sunday market here. Sans Souci also provided us with a central base for touring the area, Monpazier being an old favourite of ours. Fly into Bergerac and hire a car, this is only 20 minutes away.

Summary: We were completely stunned when we arrived at the farmhouse it exceeded all our expectations, completely ticking all our boxes - The area and the accomadation was beautiful and peaceful - We had a great holiday and came home completely chilled out and relaxed, Already booked for next year!!!

Summary: This holiday home is the best we have stayed in yet and we have stayed in plenty. The peace is just heavenly, place is great local village super. You could not ask for more, we all loved the pool and the villa was absolulutely spotless. Book it you will not be disappointed.

Summary: If you want to rent a clean, spacious, functional and pleasant house with all the facilities you could possibly need, in an attractive and private environment, then Sans Souci will suit you down to the ground. Were we to visit this area again, this is the first place we would look to book. We are a couple in our 50’s who stayed at Sans Souci for a week in early May 2012. Our plan was to use the farmhouse as a base for the exploration of the region around Bergerac and the Dordogne valley. The farmhouse and grounds are very well restored; they have not scrimped on the restoration and have made it a comfortable and practical living space without losing the original feel of the building. We used the master bedroom with on suite which, as well as being very spacious, is attractive and comfortable. We tend usually to live out of suitcases but there is lots of storage space in the chest of drawers and built in wardrobe if you prefer. The kitchen/dining room is spacious and in keeping with the rest of the house, well designed. It is well equipped and everything is good quality and works. There is a large dining table if you ever feel the need to eat indoors. The lounge is equipped with tv and sound system and has two large sofa’s. There are double shutter doors opening up onto the outside and it is a pleasant room to relax in. The feature which makes the dining room and lounge largly redundant is the recently added covered patio area. It is a solid roof tiled structure, totally in keeping with the rest of the house. We were able to take breakfast and evening meals there every day of our stay. We loved it and it is sure to be a huge success with future guests. It means that meals can be enjoyed outside in practically any weather. The gas barbeque which we made use of every day, is easy to use and clean. The hot water system is top notch and there were no issues with any other aspect of the plumbing. The gas supply is bottled apparently which caused us no problems at all. Issigeac is a nice old village with the usual assortment of bakeries and cafés. It got reasonably busy at the Sunday market without being annoyingly so. We prefer to cater for ourselves on holiday and can’t vouch for the quality of local restaurants other than to say there seem to be several and they look decent enough. We were able to find all the supplies we needed at the local Spar, local bakery and at the supermarket in Villareal 15km away.
