Positive: Breakfast was not available but the owner left porridge in the fridge for us which was lovely. There were some nice touches..... chocolates, port, orange juice, milk which was all very much appreciated. the bed was comfortable. the fire place was a nice touch too. It was too cold to be outside and enjoy the deck but in summer would be great dressing gowns and slippers were also a nice touch.... thank you
Negative: the spa bath We were told at check in that there was a "jet" that wasnt working. Well upon running a bath there was only ONE jet that worked! Not at all what was advertised. It was a pretty stifling bathroom with no exhaust fan so the window needed to be open to let steam escape.... it was freezing outside so not a pleasant experience. The room was not what I expected from the pictures online. There was no overlooking the trees from the bed as depicted, it was tired and not at all what I would pay $330 per night for usually. The drive way was extremely difficult to navigate and was very narrow, long and winding. In more than one place two cars could not pass each other and with a drop on the passenger side I was more than anxious when a car approached the other way. A smaller car would cope but a 4x4 was just too big for the size of the driveway. I cancelled two dinners (sat and sun night) in town with family / friends because we did not feel at all comfortable or safe navigating the driveways/exits in the pitch black of the evening.
Summary: it was ok but not the knock out experience that was expected
