Positive: This place was amazing. So many activities to keep everyone busy and the service from staff was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much. Loved all the hands on animal/farm activities. The restaurant food was also delicious and offered plenty of dietary options.
Negative: The only real criticism I have is if you have a low car the speed bumps could be problematic but it is a working farm so its to be expected. My family also attempted to partake in the whip cracking but as there were a lot of families there they missed out as they moved onto the boomerangs before letting all families have a turn. Perhaps running half the families on boomerang throwing and the other half on whip cracking in the future could improve it if staffing allowed? Otherwise time limiting as some families spent considerable time which resulted in others missing out.

Positive: We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children (ages 1-10) and had a wonderful time! From the outside we thought the cabin was going to be too small, but once inside it was actually quite spacious. We had 3 bedrooms (one room with queen bed, one room with three singles, last room with a queen bed and a single), a newly renovated shower room (we did split up showers, kids at night, adults in morning to ensure enough hot water for all) and seperate toilet, kitchen, lounge room (two couches) and a dining room table for 8. So much storage! We didn't bother unpacking for our three night stay, but there was plenty of places to put things if we had wanted too!. There was a pot belly stove, but no gate around it, so we didn't light it (didn't trust the little ones!). Outside was a veranda with a BBQ, small table, large table, and plenty of chairs, and in the front yard was a fire pit. No firewood is provided and currently is $18 a bag or BYO. The children had a fantastic time in the guinea pig cage and on the playground. We did a few of the free activities (milking, feeding animals, damper making, goat parade) and paid for parent led horse riding (for the little ones) and a horse riding lesson (for the older ones). The staff are very passionate about their animals and were great with the children. While the kitchen had enough facilities for self-catering, we only did this for breakfast & lunch, while having dinner up at the lodge. Dinner was lovely! Again, staff very friendly. You will need to bring all your supplies is as there isn't any shops nearby (there is a servo up the road, but we didn't stop so cannot comment on what is available there). The kitchen had a large fridge. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We were there late June, cold nights, cool days, and we were very warm!
Negative: The price is a bit steep. We paid $1200 for three nights (for three bedroom cabin) Sun-Wed. To be honest, I probably would not have paid this for just our family, but we split the cost between two families and worked out more economical.

Positive: We loved our Stay at Bestbrook. We were looked after by all the staff so well, they were friendly, helpful and thoughtful. Our cabin was comfortable. The Restaurant was full of character and the food was good.
Negative: Need to make sure you are warm on the cold morning.

Positive: So peaceful & healing being immersed in nature including the farm animals like huge, friendly dairy cows on the back steps of our cabin, pretty horses frolicking around the paddocks and stunning peacocks strutting around; local wildlife such as kookaburras, cockatoos & goannas ; masive gums; soothing running creek; and striking sunsets!!! Feeding the different kinds of animals; learning to milk a cow; making, cooking & eating delish damper; learning the challenging skills of cracking a whip & throwing a boomerang; and being like big kids trying out the old fashioned, self-propelled play equipment were all super fun activities!!! These activities were repeated and a handy schedule provided so you could choose when to attend. Over 4 days it was so relaxing to sit on the large verandas on three sides of the main homestead to enjoy an excellent meal from their restaurant or a refreshing drink from the bar or just take in the gorgeous view. Both inside & outside the homestead there were most wonderful collections of memorabilia which we loved taking in! eg teapots, toys & clocks indoors and ploughs, tools & carriages outdoors. The 2 bedroom cabin was spacious and very comfortable with great facilities and a lovely back deck to drink in the atmosphere. Facilities were provided to have a bbq or make your own fire. The delightful, historic Maryvale Pub was less than 10 minutes drive away and we had an enjoyable dinner there one night and returned the next night to see the entertaining live band called Methane on New Year's Eve which played familiar old rock from the 70's & 80's. Also we spent one day at the Darling Downs Zoo which was just the right size; had lots of informative talks & feedings with great photo opps; and show cased a number of big cats including the rare & exquisite African white lions.
Negative: There was only one thing that we didn't like. While the cabin had effective air con in the living room the bedrooms needed ceiling fans or air cons, especially as it was Summer & very humid.

Positive: The cabin was so comfortable and had all of the things you would need. The animal feeding and horse riding was amazing!! I will be coming back in the future! The food at the restaurant was fantastic and the portions were very good for the price 😋.
