Positive: The cabin was clean, warm and cozy. I loved the river nearby.
Negative: Having to pay $20 for WiFi. There is no cell phone signal and I had to call my mom to check on her. It would be great if you wouldn't charge for WiFi. I only used it to make that call.

Positive: The staff welcoming was great, the cabin was super clean with coffee/tea, free firewood and fire starter, and our location was quiet (in winter anyway), as requested. I liked that we couldn't hear highway noise.
Negative: This property needs to make very clear on its website there is no FREE wifi; and when you pay for wifi ($20), it's ONLY available outside by the entrance at some picnic tables. This should be spelled out clearly before booking so people have the option to go elsewhere if they want or need wifi from their cabin or campsite. Another small issue, when you check in and get the free enamel coffee mugs (cute), staff should make it clear that your bring these back for the free coffee/tea at the gate, or you'll be charged for a paper cup. Small matter, and they do say this on the website, but it would be helpful if staff said this at check in. We didn't know this and a chilly early morning charge for a paper cup seemed over the top. Staff explained the mug thing, to cut down on waste, which helped.
Summary: Friendly cluster of small cabins, campsites in trees along Big Sur River. Clean. Limited wifi for $$

Positive: The cabin was exceptionally clean, well-stocked kitchen, very cozy. If you can get a spot near the river it's quite nice. Compared to all the other options in Big Sur, felt like the most reasonable price to value.
Negative: Online photos are a bit misleading. The photo angle makes the cabins look private, they're actually quite close together. There's some thoughtfulness in how the cabins are spaced, and you are nestled in a forest but you're no more than 10m from the next cabin. You are very much within a campground. We should have googled a map before booking but didn't think about it. Just booked based on photos. We were entitled to two bundles of firewood but for some reason the staff refused to leave the second bundle in the room - even though they had to leave keys, etc. outside the room for our late checkin (after 7pm). We were told our only option was to pick up the second bundle in the morning... even thought checkout was at 11am. You can hear the traffic from the highway but to be expected and not super intrusive.
Summary: Quiet cozy cabin in a well-run campground

Positive: The idyllic location and the thoughtfully planned amenities will make any stay memorable. Highly recommend this slightly different stay experience. If you don't want to stay in motel, hotel, or inn, Big Sur Cabins and Campground is an excellent choice.
Negative: Nothing.
Summary: Not a hotel, not an inn, not a house...just the best choice!

Positive: I loved the campground site. There is a beautiful river around the campgrounds which we were able to hear running while at our campsite. I love the dim lighting at night, we were provided free firewood for the first night and you can purchase another set for $10 which was cheaper than the nearby stores. The staff was exceptional and very kind. One of them provided us with an entire itinerary that was amazing. Only issue was the futon bed was not that comfortable but it was tolerable
Summary: Excellent stay. Felt just like camping and perfect intro to glamping
