Positive: We stayed at Blackberry Cottage over the Christmas week with our 2 dogs. Having just moved into our new home, cooking a Christmas dinner in our renovation project wasn’t very appealing so we booked to spend Christmas in a cottage by the coast, as we often do. Blackberry Cottage did not disappoint. It has been beautifully renovated and is up there with one of the loveliest places that we have stayed in. The cottage itself is immaculate and cozy and has everything you could want for a very comfortable stay. The renovation has been very well thought out, creating a lovely sociable space centralised around the open plan kitchen/dining space that opens out onto the secure garden. As we had our 2 dogs with us, a secure garden was essential. The garden was a beautiful space, secure and with stunning countryside views. I can imagine it being a really lovely space to sit out in in the warmer weather. Dog bowls and towels were also provided which was a welcome touch. Andrea met us at the cottage and was very helpful and reassured us that she was on hand should we need her. We didn’t……. the cottage had everything that we needed for our stay and everything worked just as it should do. Marlborough is a quiet, pretty village within walking distance to Salcombe and Hope Cove. The area is quite beautiful with access to lots of beaches and lovely countryside walks. There are 2 pubs in the village but we only went to one of them during our stay. Parking wasn’t an issue for us. We were able to park directly outside the cottage every day except one, but were able to park just up the road, literally a couple of minutes’ walk from the property. Our Christmas break at Blackberry Cottage was like home from home with a luxurious feel, whilst also feeling like we were on holiday, resulting in a perfect Christmas week. We look forward to returning.
Negative: Everything about the property was excellent. The only observation we had was that we felt that the front door would benefit from having a curtain to pull across the glass at night.

Positive: A cosy and very modern cottage, well equipped with a good size garden. We stayed as a family (2 adults, 1 toddler and a dog). The cottage was a perfect stay and really well located to explore the local area from either on foot or by car. Andrea couldn’t have been clearer or quicker with her communication and provided a really helpful overview of places to go and things to see when we arrived. We will definitely be back!

Positive: Great kitchen/dining area. Nice shower room. Good location.
Negative: Nothing that wouldn’t stop us returning, but if I was being picky….. Double bed in one of the rooms is two singles pushed together which would be fine for two persons but as a single in a double I tend to sleep in middle of the bed, this was uncomfortable due to the join, a thick mattress topper would sort this out. No dressing table in either bedroom so hair had to be dried sat on the floor or stood up.
Summary: Very nice cottage in great location for visiting nearby towns and coastal walks.

Positive: The cottage was situated in a quiet street and the back overlooked the breathtaking countryside, beautiful views and outlook. The house was very clean and very comfortable, we wished we could have stayed longer. The area is beautiful, lots of country walks. We walked into Salcombe and on another day walked to Hope Cove, beautiful walks through the countryside and restaurants at both towns. Andrea was a great host, explained everything and the place is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable and extremely quiet. The road is filled with thatched cottages and parking was easy. Very quaint village town and the surrounding areas and beaches are beautiful. Highly recommend.

Positive: Blackberry cottage has the wow factor. It has been beautifully renovated and we were all so impressed with the layout and quality of finish. The cottage was perfect for myself, my friends and our two little pups. The garden is secure for dogs. The bed was super comfy and we particularly enjoyed the open living space in the evenings. We will be back!
