3 Bedroom Cottage in Plouguenast

This cottage has been fully renovated to a high standard. It is very rural and set in beautiful Breton countryside with lots of lovely walks and very quiet country lanes. However, we are within a five minute drive from two small towns that have a supermarket, Church, banks and bars as well as the larger town of Loudeac just fifteen minutes away and St. Brieuc which is about thirty minutes away. There is lots to see and do for all ages in and around our area.
On site we have a games barn with bebe foot, pool, air hockey and table tennis tables, lots of toys and ride ons for our younger visitors.
There is a 5m x 10m heated outdoor swimming pool which is open from 10am until 10pm daily from mid-May until September (maybe later if the weather is good) and a pottery/craft studio where you can join Gill in creating unique items to take home with you as a memory of your holiday with us.
There are plenty of nearby bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, churches, banks and beaches within easy reach.
We offer Free Wifi. English & French Satellite TV and Laundry Facilities.
Laurel Cottage has three comfortable, carpeted bedrooms. Open plan living and dining areas with satellite television that has English Freesat and French Canal. Fully fitted & equipped kitchen with gas oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric kettle and a coffee maker. There is a family bathroom on the first floor consisting of a thermostatically controlled walk in shower, toilet and wash basin & en suite wash room in the bedroom on the second floor which has a toilet and wash basin.
There are radiators on the ground floor, landing, bathroom and two bedrooms on First Floor all controlled by a central thermostat in main house. Second Floor bedroom has an electric heater.
Outside private sitting area with patio table, chairs & barbecue.
We also have a two bedroomed gite (Fuchsia Cottage) that sleeps four people on the same site.
All of the beds will be made up ready for your arrival and a bath towel is provided for each guest. The towels are for interior use only, you do need to provide your own pool/beach towels.
We do have our own animals including a few dogs and several cats and our guests are also welcome to bring their pets so long as they are well behaved and kept under control at all times. There is an additional charge of £50.00 (55 Euros) per pet for the duration of your stay.
Between the months of September to May any heating used is an additional charge. There are oil fired central heating radiators on the ground floor and in the two bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor of this cottage. There is also a log burner on the ground floor, logs can be purchased for 10 Euros per basket.
Other than mentioned above, all costs are included in the price quoted except for electricity. We have inline meters in each cottage which are read upon your arrival and on the day of your departure. Units are charged at exactly the same price as we pay our Electricity Company, no profit is made on the charge whatsoever. Payment will be required on the day of departure.
We have an area at the bottom of the rear garden where we house a variety of animals. There are some long stayers but, a lot of the animals are rescues and we rehome where we can so, numbers and variations are not always the same. They all love company though and are very happy with any food scraps going.
There is a small play area in the rear garden with a swing set for younger children and in our field next to the swimming pool is a badminton set up for anyone to use.

Summary: This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful rural setting with great facilities and great hosts. The cottage is well equiped with clean, comfy rooms and all you need in the kitchen, although we mainly cooked on the bbq outside each evening. The pool is warm and clean and nicely secluded. It is very rural, so if you want peace and quiet with very little traffic, apart from cows and tractors it's pefect. Gill and Martin are very welcoming and always on hand if needed, but not in any way intruding. Gill's pottery workshop is a great addition, and the animals also add to the charm of the cottage. There are a couple of little villages nearby that have all you need, with bigger towns further afield. It is a bit of a drive to the coast, but plenty of beaches to find if you want. Overall, a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Thank you Gill and Martin!

Summary: A great place for all the family. We were a group made up of 5 to 69 years old and all had a great time. The facilities and the surrounding were everything we expected but it was the owners, Gillian and Martin, who made the difference . They were incredibly helpful and welcoming and the pottery class was a massive bonus.

Summary: Lovely old stone cottage in a tranquil rural location, though still not far from shops, beaches etc. We made full use of the games barn and pool! The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, and we had great days out in this beautiful region. Highly recommended and we’d love to return some time.

Summary: Gillian is the perfect host. She makes sure you know all you need to know on arrival then leaves you alone. The pool is perfect and surrounded by plenty of comfortable chairs. The tables and chairs outside the cottage are brilliant as perhaps it would be too much for a family to remain inside. The playbarn has every trundle toy imaginable. It is excellent. The lanes around are safe for children to ride up and down on all the toys. Upstairs in the barn there is an amazing snooker room, with a full size snooker table. There is an enclosed area (via a secret garden) to the penned in geese, goats, hens and pigs. A great hit with our grandson. Logs are provided for the fire if needed. We used it one chilly evening. I would give 5 stars if the mattress on the double bed wasn’t so soft. It is like a bouncy castle! Of course some guests might like that. Also, as the whole place is amazingly set up for children I was surprised there weren’t stairgates fitted as there are two flights of stairs. (One gate was provided but we couldn’t manage to fit it). There is no bath, only a shower, but our grandson really enjoyed bathing in the kitchen sink. Travel cots are provided. The pottery workshop is superb. Our family took advantage of the glass jewellery making class. You need to do these activities early enough in the holiday for your pots or jewellery to go in the kiln for 24+ hours. You do have to drive to the shops but that is an adventure in itself. Gillian recommended a huge sandy beach, 30/35 minutes away, Pléneuf-Val-André. As you approach follow the signs for Val-André. It is gorgeous and so safe. A lovely selection of restaurants for lunch. Also on Fridays a really great market. Now we are back we are missing all the reasonably priced 3 course lunches everywhere. Great value for about £12 to £15 each, some include the wine and coffee! Thank you Gillian for providing such a peaceful haven. It is a real getaway. It was such a happy holiday.
