Cloondaver House | BROWNSTOWN LODGE - Fishing Lodge & Country House with lake view and secluded location

4 Bedroom House in Cloondaver, Ballyscanlon

BROWNSTOWN LODGE is a private fishing lodge & country house on the shores of the world famous brown trout and pike Lough Carra in County Mayo, Ireland. The lodge has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower and bath, a large living room with open kitchen, induction hob and open fireplace. Satellite TV, sound bar, W-Lan, washing machine and dryer are further features, as well as the possibility of renting an on-site motor boat, fishing and fly fishing rods as well as an echosounder for a fee.
The secluded location of the lodge in this peaceful, idyllic Irish countryside, with no noise and views across the crystal clear Lough Carra, is probably unique to those seeking relaxation. A piece of "Robinson Crusoe" feeling with the amenities of a high-class home.
SURROUNDINGS: In a few minutes drive you reach the town of Ballinrobe, which with its Irish charm and the nice pubs, the quaint shops and a huge supermarket is the ideal starting point for shopping and evening activities.
FISHING: Lough Carra is one of Ireland's best-known limestone lakes, known for its Lough-style fishing and good pike and perch. Furthermore, you can also reach in just a few minutes the great lakes of the Irish West: Lough Mask and Lough Corrib, which probably no fisherman should be a foreign word. Here daily motorboats and rowing boats can be rented. Compared to our "Homemater" the Lough Carra, these lakes are very rocky and should not be used in storm and wind. The lodge is just 35 minutes' drive from Ireland's most famous salmon river, River Moy.
EXCURSIONS: In addition to ideal fishing, Brownstown Lodge is an ideal base for day trips to Galway, Ashford Castle, Ballina, the Wild Atlantic Way, Connemara, the white West Coast beaches or the beautiful County Donegal. Golfing is also possible in the immediate vicinity of the lodge - as is the town Ballinrobe known for its horse races.
HOW TO GET THERE: Brownstown Lodge Dublin is about 2.5 - 3 hours and mostly runs to Galway via the extremely well-developed highway. It could also be served by Knock Airport which is only 52 km away and 45 minutes drive from the lodge.

Summary: We had the most wonderful stay at Brownstown Lodge. We were a family of 7 adults and this was our first trip to Ireland. We wanted a home base to make day trips from and Brownstown Lodge was absolutely perfect for us! the house is lovely, the property so peaceful, the view perfection. The house lends itself to privacy if you want it and togetherness when you want that. We would absolutely stay here again. Thomas was so helpful with information prior to our arrival. The house was spotless, the beds perfectly comfortable. We were able to enjoy a family meals together and conversation around the fireplace. I can't recommend this home enough. It was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you so much, Thomas, for making our first visit to Ireland so wonderful. We will be back.

Summary: Once again this year we had the privilege of spending 9 wonderful nights there. Everything is as described in the presentation, pictures absolutely reflect the complete house and property. Just like last year, we felt welcome and simply at home for the short time. The house is super well equipped, the kitchen has everything you need. Bathrooms are clean, beds comfortable and of good quality. The view of the lake is priceless. The contact with the landlord and the manager on site was friendly, discreet, fast and professional, just like last yearThe price-performance ratio is absolutely good.It was certainly not our last stay there.

Summary: First of all, the lodge is exactly as portrayed in the pictures. We absolutely loved our 8 day stay in in this remote and quiet countryside. Lough Carra was beautiful, and we had sheep out front and dairy cows in the back. Beautifully landscaped as well. The caretakers, Jim and Mary were exceptional. We chose this place because we waned private and and countryside. We got it. It was the perfect base for our wanderings in Co. Mayo, Co. Galway and Connemara. My only sugesstion is for clearer driving directions. We would not have found it if not for Padrick, who escorted us there. The house was also stocked with essentials, and Mary baked us a welcome pie. There are two grocery stores in Ballinrobe for those who wish to prepare their own meals. We would definitely stay here again.

Summary: We spent two lovely weeks at the Brownstown Lodge. The house is spacious and comfortable. It was a good base for our exploration of western Ireland. Thomas responded immediately to our texts. Jim and Mary were wonderful hosts. There was cake and a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers waiting for us upon arrival. Midway through our stay, Mary brought us a delicious homemade rhubarb crisp! We loved the peaceful country setting. We are in a hotel now in Dublin. . .missing the comforts of the Brownstown Lodge!

Summary: Had a brilliant time here. Lovely house. Very well equipped. The only small thing is no outdoor furniture. Having said that the weather was brilliant- sitting outside in Ireland is not usually the norm. Otherwise cannot fault this property and would highly recommend.
