Positive: It is a beautiful place, a lot of activities - daily excursions (staff even tried to organize it just for us), diving (different reefs), snorkeling, massages, everything. Food is amazing, prices are reasonable. Very peaceful, nice, calm and great send camp. Staff was also amazing, we were three young girls, felt safe and really enjoyed our last days of Tanzania.

Positive: I recently spent a weekend at Butiama Camp, perfectly located in the heart of the Marine Park. The setting couldn’t be better — peaceful, scenic, and just steps from the sea. The Big Blu Diving Centre offers a wide range of activities for both divers and non-divers, making it ideal for all interests. The food was varied and delicious, and the service throughout was exceptionally attentive.

Positive: Really relaxed vibe. Fabulous helpful staff and lots of daily options for things to do. There was a choice of main course for dinner each night and all of my meals were delicious and good value. Very quiet - just what we wanted. The locals were very friendly and there was no being hassled by beach vendors. Beautiful location

Negative: Hot showers were a bit hit and miss.

Positive: It is a beautiful place, well organized and very friendly and considerate staff. They remember your names, likes and dislikes when it comes to food - we were really impressed We tried different activities at the dive centre and had a great time. They also have a very comfy lounge area to chill and escape the heat.

Positive: Great place with amazing staff. The food was great and we enjoyed the variety. Mafia is beautiful and it is worth a visit to the village.

Negative: My first contact with the property via booking was not so polite. I misunderstood the message about the transfer and got a quite rude answer. This almost made us to cancel the booking. At the property it was completely different. The staff were great and super welcoming.

Positive: The staff was great, food was amazing and location top notch. I did the padi open water diving course and it was all very well organized and managed. The other guests were great and the staff did a good job bringing us together for Christmas night. All in all, I had an amazing time.

Negative: The showers for the tent guests were a bit disappointing. If the showerheads are replaced or cleaned it will be significantly better. In current state its still ok. Moreover, wifi could have been better / more consistent but its not the most important thing in the world.

Summary: Amazing place, staff, location and food.

Positive: The camp is optimally located and has all the facilities if you like diving or snorkeling in the Mafia Marine Park. The camp serves nice breakfasts and you are able to enjoy lunch and dinner as well if you like. In case you can't make it to breakfast due to a planned activity, they also provide good solutions to take breakfast with you or later. Our bungalow was also a very nice and had a great sea view. They all do by the way.

Negative: There is no pool in case you would expect this, but the Marine Park is right at the beach, so who needs a pool in such case.

Summary: Excellent spot for a bunch of activities in and around the Mafia Marine Park

Positive: Amazing stay at Butiama Marine camp. For those visiting Mafia, would 100% recommend. Its location right on the beach is unmatched, excellent breakfasts and dinners, and fantastic staff. If you’re looking to dive, would recommend Mafia Island diving. Staff were much friendlier than those at Big Blu (dive shop at marine camp).

Positive: I stayed in the tent which had a normal comfortable bed, an electricity outlet and a fan; the daily cleaning of the tent and common shower/bathroom were exceptional, Wifi was spotty at the same time you have free wifi on a remote island! Daily activities (whaleshark trip, diving etc) were nice and value for money; everybody is doing their best to make you feel welcome. Ask to see the local village/school otherwise you only see the beach and resort!

Negative: all good (wifi a bit spotty, but it’s a remote island)
