Butler House at Morris Manor is located within the Butternut Valley. Nestled among rolling hills and lush landscapes, Butternut Valley offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, agricultural charm and history. The Morris’s Manor House and its farms have preserved their charm, with many original buildings still standing.
Here, you will find tranquility and pure air, so important for a restful vacation. Morris Manor land is permanently protected by the Otsego County Land Trust. The Trust works tirelessly to protect the area’s unique landscapes, including forest, farmlands, waterways, and wildlife habitats, ensuring that they remain unspoiled for future generations. In our woods, you will find many trails for walking and discovering nature.
The Butler House at Morris Manor is one of two homes offered (separately) for rent from April to October. A large lawn and a shared inground HEATED SALTWATER POOL separate the two historic properties. The pool area is shared with The Hyde House at Morris Manor. Each house has a private cabana and a private gated entrance on each side for easy access.
The Butler House is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that has been completely renovated (2024) to showcase the classic charm and beauty of early 1800’s architecture. The hardwood floors throughout the home have been masterly refinished bringing such warmth to the space while maintaining the historic charm. The bathrooms were redone with classic hexagonal floor tiles, frameless glass showers, custom hardwood cabinets, and built-ins. Each feels like a high-end hotel, no detail has gone unnoticed, you will love the soft cozy earth towels, so soft! The kitchen was also redone with custom cabinets and soapstone countertops.
You will have your private driveway with plenty of parking. From there you will follow the stone pathway leading to the entrance into the living room. The living room is open into the large dining room, a wonderfully open space. The attention to detail is unmatched, if you sit on the couch looking into the dining room and the kitchen you will be immersed in the 4 slightly different shades of green on the walls. Expertly chosen by the artist painter on purpose to intrigue your mind's eye.
The The kitchen is fully equipped with luxurious appliances such as a Nespresso coffee maker, all-clad cookware, Breville smart oven and more. It will be easy to whip up a fabulous meal in this kitchen. Access to the private side stone patio through the French doors, to enjoy alfresco dining. There is a gas grill on the patio to BBQ. Serve your meal in the light filled dining room just off the kitchen, at the custom table, this space is sure to make many memories for you and yours.
Next to the dining room is the large living room with lots of comfy seating and a large smart TV for movie nights. There is a desk area, if you must work on vacation. The 1st floor is completed with a full bathroom including a wide frameless glass shower and super soft cozy earth towels, located just off the kitchen.
The three bedrooms are on the second floor, once atop the stairs with a queen bed. Across the hall is the kids' room with 2 twin beds. Down the hall past the washer/dryer and a large linen closet is the primary king bedroom with a large smart TV. There is a full bathroom with a frameless glass tub/shower combo located in the hall for all three bedrooms to access easily. All the beds are covered in luxuriously soft bedding from cozy earth, the beds are straight out of a dream.
All furniture is new and well-appointed, much of it is custom and handmade to fit the space. The artwork throughout the home is all local art from the Morris/Butternut Valley area, supporting the many fabulous local artists.
Agriculture is also very much a part of the Butternut Valley. You will find many weekly markets which offer local produce, including an Amish Market!
Cooperstown and Oneonta are less than 45 minutes away where you will find more Art Museums, The National Baseball Hall of Fame, world-renowned Glimmerglass Festival Opera House, Otsego Lake, and many shops and restaurants. The Glimmerglass Festival and Musical Theater take place in Cooperstown in the months of July and August. There are many area attractions and activities which will enrich your vacation at the Manor House Rentals within an hour.
