Summary: When we arrived we noticed immediately that the grounds were in poor shape. The screens on the outer portion of the structure all appeared as if they had been poorly repaired and were in need of some attention. We had requested an early check in as we had a 4:00 pm wedding to attend in New Smyrna. When we made our reservation we were advised that we could have a 2:00 pm check in. When we arrived at 1:50 pm (Normal check-in is at 3:00 pm) I was advised that there was an additional $30 charge for the early check-in and our room was not ready. In addition, we were reminded in a manner that lacked a welcoming and friendly attitude that our early check-in was at 2:00. We were invited to sit in the lobby and partake of tea and coffee but would have to wait until 2:00 pm to check-in. In all my years of traveling, I have never paid an early check-in fee until my check-in at the Cabin on the Lake. The accommodations were adequate and tidy. Prior to arriving on property we were considering returning for a quiet weekend in September, but have definitely changed our mind.

Summary: The location is awesome And the room was clean and the staff was very polite and courteous. They provided coffee and tea at all times. Breakfast was great also!

Summary: Room was clean and spacious. Not much to do at the house but many nearby attractions. Friendly staff member and a typical continental breakfast. Quiet location to rest for the night.

Summary: Our stay at Cabin on the Lake was a delightful experience, defined by its genuine antique charm and the truly accommodating nature of the host. The property offers a special feel with its unique patina, lending it great character and potential. We enjoyed a warm, clean, and private retreat in our room, complete with a very nice bathroom and a cute view across the road toward the lake. The location is excellent, placing us close to many different places, and we appreciated the strong, reliable Wi-Fi and the cozy downstairs dining area. Finally, the continental-style breakfast, served in a quaint atmosphere, was perfect, with everything fresh and tasting good. We highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a charming getaway with a gracious host.

Summary: My wife was upset she was “scolded” when she attempted to sit on couch where breakfast items where. She was not going to eat on it, just checking it out as we own an identical one. She also was upset/insulted the host stated “we are civilized here” As professionals at one of Tampa’s largest trauma centers we are very respectful of the locations we stay.

Summary: Very nice B & B in Lake Helen. It could not have been more peaceful. The Island room was clean and comfortable.The breakfast was fine, but not elaborate. Hugo the host, was very pleasant and had a lot of info about the area. A great place to get away if visiting the areas springs or the mystic village of Cassadaga.
