Positive: It was a nice place. You pay for the location, which is excellent. It was very comfortable with a great view. Sunrise was great. It’s a very short walk to everything, restaurants, bars, pier and beach. We had an upstairs, two bedroom room (#130) and the room was quite spacious. It showed a queen and a twin bed on the website, but there was also another little bed in a small room, and a fold out couch. So you could have slept 5 or 6 people if you wanted to.
Negative: The room has a late check in at 4:00pm. I asked about getting an earlier check in, since they said the room was ready, but they wanted to charge me an extra $30 on top of the $350 I already spent on the room for one night. They also charge an additional $20 per day for a parking spot. The room has a full kitchen, but with NO dishes. Dishes are available at an additional cost The coffee pot did not work either. Which was disappointing in the morning. Overall, we still had a nice stay though.

Positive: First & foremost, you’re steps away from the beach & that can never be beat! It makes dealing with the funkiness of the unit workable. Plus we love Capitola & staying in the village is the best!
Negative: Being funky, the layout of each unit differs. Ours had the kitchen right next to the bedroom. A door muffled any sound but that’s just weird. Bathroom is small & tight in places. Kitchen supplies are virtually nil so be prepared to bring everything you may need to cook, eat, prepare with. You can rent a kitchen set for $30+ (was free once as was parking), parking is $20 per night but worth it for the convenience. We’d stay again, but I would call them ahead of time to get a unit I felt better in.
Summary: Perfect if you like being close to the beach.

Negative: I was trying to get early check in and on their website it said there was a $30 fee for early check in. I called a few weeks in advance and they told me to call back the day before to find out if our room would be available or not. Well I basically got the run around and tried calling back the next day which was the day of check in and no one answered the phone because they just switched to “contactless check in” So it would’ve been nice to know in advance if I was getting in to my room early. Also- on booking.com I didn’t see that there was a $20 parking charge so that was another fee we were hit with

Positive: The location is perfect, you can walk all of Carmel including the beach, restaurants and shops. The price was great considering the location being directly on the beach with its own private parking and beach access.
Negative: The room did not have a ceiling fan in the bedroom. I sleep hot so that would have been nice.
