1 Bedroom Cabin in Buechel, Louisville

Enjoy your own log cabin on a wooded hillside overlooking a lake as you start on the bourbon trail, head to the races or visit great museums. It's been the location for four movies, including Lifetime, as well as several commercials! Period furnishings and modern conveniences make this an unforgettable retreat. A massive stone fireplace creates a quiet ambiance. Tasteful antiques appoint the cabin for a step back in time.
Captain's Cabin offers a special one-of-a-kind experience surrounded by history and luxury simultaneously. You will enjoy your own full kitchen, fully equipped and stocked with spices and supplies. The bath has been lovingly renovated while retaining the clawfoot tub. Enjoy a long soak with hand-crafted scrubs and soaps. There is no shower! You are surrounded in comfort from the ultra soft sheets, luxurious robes, and Sleep Number bed to the gourmet hot breakfast delivered to your door every weekend morning. Continental breakfast is provided on weekdays. (We promise you won't go hungry!) Join us for a Cooking With Bourbon Dinner Experience on weekends. Sip wine by the fireplace, read on the back porch swings or enjoy the wildlife visiting the lake from the front porch. Only 17 minutes from downtown Louisville, you are surrounded by 8 acres of woods and wildlife. Take a walk along the lake, hike through the woods and discover the waterfall. Take a canoe ride or go wading in the smooth limestone creek. Warm up by the firepit and roast marshmallows or use the grill to make your favorite dinner. Summary: Such a cool and relaxing place to spend a few days! We don't like to overschedule our getaways so having a clean, cozy and interesting place to stay is always a priority so that we can simply relax! This was perfect for us. Close enough to bourbon tours and delightful hosts. Highly recommend!

Summary: Had a great weekend at Captain's cabin. we immediately started a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed the quiet popping and warmth of the fire all weekend. Tammy's breakfasts are outstanding. Found some fun things to do in town when we finally pealed ourselves from the cabin.

Summary: This was the perfect place for a fall getaway. It was peaceful and felt isolated, even though everything you need or want was a short drive. The cabin is spectacular and the hosts are outstanding. I hope we can return!

Summary: The cabin was gorgeous with lots of amazing antiques and memorabilia. The hosts were sweet and doting, leaving us lots of treats and things. They do live RIGHT next door, almost on top of the cabin, which could be a negative if you are wanting more privacy or a more remote location. We loved having a fireplace we could actually use (many places don't let you build a fire). So relaxing! Having a Sleep Number bed was a huge plus. All in all, it was homey and comfortable. We enjoyed the beauty of the lake, creek, and fall foliage. of little treats and things.

Summary: On arrival we were greeted by tammy who explained all about the cabin and how far it dated back, cablin is decorated in period style but with all the mod cons you would need. We were travelling around Kentucky and this was the perfect place to unwind. Enjoyed meeting captain and the fairy show at night.

Summary: After several months of medical treatment and with more to come, we found one weekend where we could get away. I needed a change of scenery and to feel like I was doing something normal. We didn't want to spend to much time traveling so we picked Louisville, 2 hours away and near our son and daughter-in-law. Captains Cabin provided just what we needed. It felt like we had really gone on vacation! It was perfect. In my communication with the owner I had shared my medical situation and the hosts went over and above making us feel cared for. Our son and daughter in law came over one evening and fell in love with the place and are thinking of trying to stay there for their baby moon! Thank you Captain's Cabin for the best weekend getaway we could have imagined.

Summary: Karl and Melanie from Alabama: Amazing, authentic,1800's log cabin with all the modern amenities (A/C, Fridge, Microwave, Stove/Oven, Coffee Pot, Keurig and a Sleep Number Bed). Our hosts, Jan and Tammy & Captain their very calm dog, welcomed us and we immediately felt like we had been long time neighbors. Jan and Tammy were both there for us if we needed anything but also gave us our space. Melanie and I were there to visit our daughter who recently relocated to Louisville. We unloaded a U-Haul full of her things and the cabin was the perfect place to rest, and recover. We spent hours each morning just sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and taking in the beautiful setting. On Saturday and Sunday Tammy brought delicious gourmet breakfasts to our front door (Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissants, Cheese Grits and a Bourbon Apple Pie Saturday, and a Sausage/Egg/ Cheese/Hash Brown Casserole, a Raisin Bourbon Bread Pudding and a huge bowl of Blueberries, Strawberries, and Grapes with Balsamic Vinegar on Sunday). Trust me, I'm a regular ole grits and eggs guy...It was all delicious. The surroundings are full of beautiful flowers and trees. It's just a short walk (or you can drive) to the creek or pond. The fire pit sits down from the cabin in the open area below Jan and Tammy's house We saw deer, ducks rabbits, a weasel, and the creek is full of crawdads. We had a wonderful time visiting with our daughter and playing in the creek. Jan and Tammy were wonderful hosts as well.
