Captain Sam Sawyer was an industrious Bahamian man who made his living from the sea. In his lifetime, he sponged and shark-fished. His colourful past even included rum running during with several other island men. He was a pioneer in the craw-fishing industry which is second to tourism in the Bahamas today. He had an 85' Coast Guard Vessel which he docked in front of his house. When he was not craw-fishing, he and his wife Mary, took fishing parties out on weekly excursions. They collected and sold seashells, sea fans, conch shells, starfish and coral (when it was legal to do so) to Florida souvenier shops. His home which was built in the early 1950's has been completely remodeled and is located on Bay Street in historic New Plymouth. It is air conditioned, has Bahamian Island Cable 32 inch flatscreen TV, High speed wireless internet.

Summary: Everything was great and the people of GTC are AWESOME! The property is a 2 bed/1 bath home on Settlement Creek in New Plymouth. EVERYTHING in town is within walking distance, but we still tooled around in the golf cart. The host Marilyn was warm and welcoming and we felt more like we were visiting with distant, out-of-town family. Once greeted, she let us know where to find her - if we needed anything - but being a small town we did run into her. All was swell and she made it so welcoming! The home was neat and clean and had everything one could want for an easy. relaxing DIY 'away from it all' [meaning - no 'resorts'!], off the beaten track vacation. The locals of GTC could not be any friendlier and we met many new friends! Let's just say this ... WE'LL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Great location for our trip. The house was close to everything we wanted experience. The house was good for 4 adults. Dock is across the street easy access to your boat if you bring one.

Summary: This was our first time staying in an island “town”. It was different and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every day we met more locals and they made us feel right at home. Two of them went fishing with us on different days and it was such an original experience. The house was perfect for the two of us and very cozy.

Summary: Without water and power for two days due to the previous hurricane . It would have been nice to have a generator for those times.

Summary: Cap’n Sams is located right in the heart of Green Turtle’s town, New Plymouth. Walking distance to many restaurants and bars and just a short golf cart ride (included with rental), to everything else GTC has to offer. The home also comes with a dock so bring your boat (3’ MLW). Sleeps 4 comfortably and the AC is ice cold.
