The "Casa de Infesta" is a country house, with a wonderful view over the valley. The swimming pool is shared only with the guests of Casa da Frente (property nber 11202750), the other house that we have nearby.
Both houses are independent and have separate external spaces, including tables and bbq facilities, allowing an autonomous stay.
The location in a small farm on the west slope of the Aboboreira mountain range, offers the visitor a magnificent view over the valley.
In the surrounding area, the vinho verde district, the visitor will be able to see traditional wine-growing practices: vinha de enforcado (”hanged man vine”, a vine that grows up a tree) and trellised vine.
In a favoured location, close to the towns of Amarante, Baião, Marco de Canaveses and Vila Real, all worth seeing, «Casa de Infesta» offers the visitor many opportunities to explore a region of high tourist interest.
The Douro valley, world heritage site, is accessible for daytrips.

Summary: A delightful historic house in a country area 9k from Amarante. Excellent private swimming pool. Dining under vines. Access could prove challenging for those unused to Portuguese rural roads.

Summary: We loved our stay at Casa de Infesta. It is a beautiful old house in the hill which has been converted very tastefully to accommodate 8 people. We were 2 families with 4 children between us. We all loved the large garden and pool. Alberto was wonderful host, friendly and very helpful. The views across the hills are beautiful. We hope to return .

Summary: Absolutely recommended. The estate is located about 20 minutes by car from Amarante in a rural area (great views). Streets are sometimes narrow, but in good condition. Shopping possibilities are not nearby and some type of vehicle is therefore a must. A small supermarket and a bakery (very good) are a few kilometres away. Larger stores can be found in Amarante. The host, Alberto, is absolutely charming and very helpful. There are two separate units being rented, both embedded in a garden with swimming pool (a plus on hot days!). We stayed in the old house where the family lived for two centuries. The other unit (we were allowed to have a look at it): A converted stable - which was redesigned with skilful intuition for the architecture of the house and modern ideas. Large windows create 'murals' of the surrounding landscape - generous clear lines dominate the room, which is actually not so large, but nevertheless appears generous. Old & new is mixed with an incredible sense of style. The old family house, where we stayed, is an experience. Immediately you are in the north of Portugal, not only if you look out of the window (the view is breathtaking - the sunsets too), you feel the existence of the people in these walls. From the entrance you step directly into the kitchen, with a large fireplace - which used to be the soul of the house - dark solid stone walls enclose this room - in summer wonderfully cool - in winter a shelter against all terrible weather. The adjoining dining room and living room, all newly renovated with great attention to detail. The old mixes with the new. The bedrooms are lovingly furnished - the old bedsteads with new comfortable mattresses. You will always discover something new: The lamps with the old porcelain sockets - the wooden ceilings with decorative strips.... It is also noticeable that the person who has redesigned this house must have a flair for beautiful lighting design. Something which I appreciate very much and which is unfortunately often treated without love. So even in bad weather one can wonderfully isolate oneself in this house. Every house has a garden place with table and chairs and it is a special pleasure to sit there towards the evening when everything is gold-tinted by the vanishing sun. A house where you can imagine to be with family, to go hiking, to explore the nearby wonderful regions by car or enjoy the house alone, to write a paper, or paint, or writing a book .… everything possible.

Summary: Ab-so-lu-te-ly charming!! Stay here! Authentic turn of 20th century style, but with all conveniences on hand. Alberto is lovely, the house and grounds are delightful. No qualifiers at all. Amarante also very charming, 20 minutes drive away. We had such a relaxing time. Have stayed in many places round the world. This is one of my favourites.

Summary: Well situated, traditional farmhouse, with ancient granary and treshing, tastefull redecorated into a holiday home. With grapes covered, spacious and completely private terrace for sitting and eating outside in the shadow or bbq. Great swimming pool. situated at the edge of the garden with wide view over the Amarante valley. Recommended!
