Relais Casa dei Granci is an old Sicilian farmhouse immersed in the greenery of a lush olive grove in the historic Contrada Granci, just 5 km from the medieval town of Polizzi Generosa, the heart of the Madonie. It has 5 comfortable bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large swimming pool (15x6 m) suitable for long swims. It is the ideal accommodation for those who love unspoiled nature, between streams and green woods, and is only 30 minutes from the beaches of Lascari and Cefalu '. Since 2015, despite the wide receptivity of the relais, we have chosen to host a maximum of 6 people.

Summary: As we arrived at Casa di Granci for our first holiday in Sicily we were imediatley aware that we had found an ideal country spot set in a seriously beautiful environment. Yes the lane from the main road was a little tricky - but that was explained on the HomeAway web site, and to be expected in such a countryside location. The views from the house and the facilities were exceptional (especially the large pool) and of course the house reflected its rural setting with a variety of farm and wild animals always nearby (all safely fenced out). The nearby town of Polizzi Generosa (5klms) was unspoilt and the locals were the most friendly of any town we visited. All of the above was what we had hoped for. However, what really sets Casa di Granci appart is the hosts - Sandra and Pietro. They were amazing - totally in communication at any level we required. From the details on arrival to the departure. In between we had a couple of experiences where their assistance went above and beyond what should be expected - one was assistance in getting a local mechanic to come to our rescue when we had a flat tyre, and the other to arrange for a local associate to collect us from the villa and take us to our car in the town where we left it ahead of our early morning departure. Like lots of the comments in the visitors book, we found it hard to tear ourselves away from the house to go visit the other more touristy areas - all of which are easily driven to. We will remember the beauty of the house, and the special attention we recieved from the hosts - we will return. The house and the hosts are a credit to the HomeAway/ VRBO organisation. Summary: Casa dei Granci was even better than the website pictures indicated - they must have been taken some time ago and the garden is much more beautiful now. The owner's notes could do with a bit of updating (there was no vegetable garden!) and the internet access was really inadequate but it was otherwise a fantastic location (albeit the access road was very steep) and a very comfortable and well-equipped house. We would love to stay there again.

Summary: We stayed in this villa in September 2019. It is absolutely fantastic. Initially we were confused by the bedrooms and amount of beds. There are 5 bedrooms but we could only use 4. On the ground floor we had a small double room which is plenty big enough. The bathroom is adjacent to the room so is perfect. I assume the other room that was locked is the room with bunk beds. On the first floor there is a large double room with a bathroom adjacent which is also great. There is also another bedroom with a double sofa bed and a single bed with another bathroom adjacent which is also great . There is another room that is accessed either through the bedroom with the sofa bed in or via a small spiral staircase to the ground floor by the front door just inside the hall. This bedroom has a double bed in which is also great and is next to the bathroom by he room with the sofa bed in. So 2 bathrooms upstairs and one downstairs. All were absolutely fine and very comfortable. The kitchen is good and suited our needs perfectly as we love to cook. The living room is large with a dining room in between. We ate outside mostly because the weather was fantastic. Great shaded area to eat all day out of the full sun. The pool is fantastic and large. This villa has almost everything you need. A couple of things missing such as a first aid kit (not a big issue as we brought one) needed it when boys needed medical attention when out mountain biking. Could have done with a few more sharp knives or a sharpener - if you are cooking.... However only very minor things. Beach is quite a way and we could not find a beach nearer than an hour away but that may have been us. The track is very bumpy to the villa and has to be used to get to the villa as you cannot park on the road and walk. We were nervous of this as we had a large hire vehicle (larger than booked) so need to be a confidant driver which was not a problem for us but may be difficult for some as access to road is not easy. The owner was very helpful on Skype. It would be helpful to have better written instructions for lighting and pool pump but with the very helpful owner on Skype we managed to sort it out. We were met with a lovely hamper of local produce - what a treat! The area is very rural and close to pretty hill top village with basic amenities. It is a beauftiful area and great for walking up the mountain nearby which was cooler. We would certainly return - it is great.

Summary: This is a very nice villa with the best and largest pool we have ever had at a holiday villa. The property owner (Sandra) was very responsive with any queries and very helpful. The location is in the hills and so has fantastic views.

Summary: What a beautiful villa. The grounds are stunning and the Villa itself is charming and has ample room. The pool is a luxury on hot summer days. The landscape leaves your breathless. One note, the road that leads to the villa is narrow and mostly unpaved and can be difficult to navigate with a larger vehicle. Smaller vehicles no problem.

Summary: Superb property. Fully equipped , spacious, comfortable, beautiful rural setting in the mountains of the Madonie National Park. Polizzi Generosa, a friendly, hospitable hill top town. Wonderful beaches to the north. All amenities including excellent restaurants and Agroturismo. Go hungry!

Summary: Sbalorditivo!! Casa Dei Granci is beyond beautiful. Panoramic vistas from all areas of the property are stunning. It is brimming with character and while clean and tidy, it feels warm and lived in and contains everything you could need while on holiday. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for large dinners, and there are multiple areas to eat depending on the weather. The garden is plentiful with fresh herbs and fruit. We spent days playing table tennis, football and relaxing by the massive swimming pool, which has a breathtaking backdrop of rolling Sicilian hills! The closest shop is about 10 minutes away by car in Polizzi Generosa - a beautiful little town that is home to the most friendly and kind people! We browsed the local market and ate delicious pizza. Sandra and Piero were welcoming and helpful during every part of our trip, and always responded quickly to any questions we had. We made some extremely fond and ever-lasting memories at Casa Dei Granci and will definitely be returning!

Summary: We arrived at the villa to find our friendly and helpful hosts Sandra and Pietro waiting, with a basket full of delicious local food and wine. The house is a wonderful large, sturdy and stylish family home, with big tables to sit around and an excellently equipped cook’s kitchen. It’s a place to whip up feasts for slow lunches and five course dinners. The bedrooms and bathroons are also stylish and very comfortable and the views from the house are stunning, The courtyard and lush gardens provide lots of spots for dining and dreaming and the orchards are fun to explore -we gathered apricots, plums and oranges. The pool is perfect, again with great mountain views. If you’re looking for a rural property and a central spot to explore the interior and the coast I couldn’t recommend this more highly; what a perfect place for family and friends.

Summary: This is a very unique property sitting on a ridge with simply glorious uninterrupted views of the beautiful Madonie national park. the house is very well cared for and beautifully equipped. it is the family house of the owners, and it has a beautiful feel to it. The large swimming pool is is sunlight all day and a joy to swim in. There are many fruit trees on the property and every day we had freshly squeezed orange juice from oranges we picked seconds before. The people in the nearest small town Polizzi Generosa are exactly that- generous and very kind and friendly. This was one of the best, most peaceful holidays we have ever had.The owners even drove from Palermo to change up our internet to give us more gigs per day! Perfection. great local food, wonderful hiking. Peace. We shall most definitely return.

Summary: We couldn't have been luckier with another house for our first trip to Sicily. Upon arrival, we had a grand welcome by Sandra and Piero, the owners, themselves. They are very proud of their house, with good reason and wanted to show us around themselves. The house and the grounds are BEAUTIFUL!! They also set out a few baskets in the kitchen with local treats: cheese, prosecco, salami, honey, olive oil, lemons and tomato sauce (the last 3 from their own grounds). The house is very clean, charmingly decorated and includes everything that you could need for the vacation. We were with grandparents and 4 children (ages 12-5) and there was something for everyone, from reading in the shade on the comfortable lounge chairs to playing voetbal or table tennis, to swimming in the pool to walking around the grounds and neighborhood taking in the gorgeous scenery. The views from the house are open and breathtaking! The house has no obstuctions around so you can see the beautiful nature all around you. Polizzi Generosa, the closest town, can be seen from the yard and the view is both by night and day is an enjoyable sight. We went to Polizzi Generosa daily for bread/groceries, but also a few times for dinner. The tiny town has everything you need. About a 20 minute ride away are the beaches of Cefalu. Within 15 minutes in the opposite direction are beautiful trails for hiking. In short, a week here was not long enough. When we return to Sicily, we will definitely stay again in Sandra and Piero's house. We loved the house and our vacation in Sicily!
