The House of Camellia is a lovely cottage set in a wonderfully rural location and an ideal base for exploring eastern Sicily. It dates back to the late 18th century and has been carefully restored maintaining the original lava stonework and wood-beamed ceilings, adding high quality fittings ,traditional furniture and Caltagirone tiles in the typical Sicilian style making it full of character.The farmhouse is set in a large estate of lemon groves, in a very peaceful location with Europe's highest active volcano in the background and offers a warm and cosy welcome, rural peace, sensational views of Etna, being a perfect location from which visiting Taormina , walking in M.Etna's Natural Park and enjoying the nice beaches nearby.Also the province of Siracusa ( 1 hour drive ) and Ragusa with its beautiful baroque towns ( 1,5 hour drive) are within easy reach. A mini-cruise of the Aeolian Islands is a day trip we suggest as well.
Our lovely farmhouse is ideal for a couple , a family or a group of friends who want to sample rural Sicilian life, being close to all the sights and comforts.
All accomodation is on one floor: a spacious living area with fully equipped farmhouse kitchen, armchair and sofa bed.There's a flat screen TV , microwave oven , a new fridge , Hi-Fi with CD and MP3 reader, an Americano coffee machine ( filter coffee) and a Nespresso machine so don't forget your coffee pods ( but you will find two complimentary pods for your first night ). You can cook up a Sicilian feast for friends or family with the great regional produce from local shops .There are two bedrooms ,one with a king size double bed and the other with two twin beds.
All the rooms open directly on the terrace where a patio offers shade for your " al fresco" meals .Also you can have your breakfast or simply relax in the shade of the big beautiful Camellia tree the house is named after.Step out of the kitchen or of the bedroom and soak up the morning sun on the east-facing patio or while away the hour enjoying the flowers in the terrace , a glass of Sicilian wine and the peace and smell of the surrounding lemon groves , make the most of the barbecue and outdoor dining table cooking some fresh caught fish from the local fish market at the fishing harbour in Riposto where the fishermen land their catches daily.
Three steps lead from the kitchen to the bathroom with the shower.
There's a little roof terrace where you can enjoy the views of Mt Etna , the sea and the countryside.Garden furniture and a barbecue will let you enjoy the surrounding countryside. The house has very thick walls that keep it cool during the summer but there is air conditioning for even more comfort when needed. Free wifi is available.
The house has its own access and it's totally secluded and not overlooked. We are a family run business and we live on site so there is always someone to speak to if you need.We want our guests to feel comfortable and at home , we like to make sure that they have everything they need but also like to give them space and privacy even though we are always happy to help our guests or to give them advice.

Summary: This house is very beautiful. The location is very quiet and you will not be disturbed by anything. Although the landlords live nearby, you will not get anything from there. Unless you need help, in that case they are immediately on the spot. The landlords are really nice. I'm sure we were not there for the last time.

Summary: My husband and I has an absolutely marvelous time at Casa della Camelia. We stayed nearly two weeks between several days in Catania and several days in Taormina. The house is very sweet and comfortable. Lemon trees are everywhere. I literally reached behind me one evening to pluck a lemon from a tree while having dinner on the terrace. The location is very good - minutes from the SS114 road and just a few minutes more to the A18 autostrada. This means that the coast and the country roads up the mountain are both within easy access. There is a local macelleria and fruit vendor nearby and a good bar for summer morning granitas with warm brioche. Sigh - I hope to return to Sicily before long. Our hosts were lovey and very responsive. A car is imperative. Driving in Sicily can be a bit daunting at first but you will quickly get the hang of it.

Summary: A clean well equipped cottage right in the middle of a lemon grove. You will need a car but there is plenty to do around and good local shops and supermarkets. The highlight is a roof terrace that allows for a great view of etna. The beds were comfortable and the inside remained cool even when over 30 outside. The hosts were very helpful, ensuring great directions for our night time arrival and they also responded quickly when we had some plumbing issues. There is also a helpful local guide provided. sicily is a great place for a family holiday, beaches, good food and adventures such as our trip up etna. This property will provide a relaxing and convenient base with hosts that are welcoming and always on hand for advice if required.

Summary: We had a great time staying in this smart apartment located within a gated community with a shared pool (bathing hats required!). It had all that we needed for our stay. Being outside Catania meant that it was easy to explore the eastern half of Sicily by hire car without battling with the city traffic! The apartment was clean and comfortable for our week away and the owners met us and helpfully showed us to the complex and explained the necessary practicalities. Highlights of our holiday included the wonderful mosaics at Villa Romana del Casale, the amphitheatre and theatre at Syracuse, Taormeana (including the Grak / Roman theatre), swimming in the sea nearby and climbing Etna (beware the fumes and the strong winds at 3,300m!!). Our hosts were very helpful and the written advice on where to eat and what to sea proved a great help. Our meals out were very affordable and of excellent quality with seafood and pizza the favourites.

Summary: We had a lovely stay in the Casa della Camelia. The weather was fabulous, mid thirties every day - long hot nights under the vines watching the lizards scurry around and listening to Mount Etna rumbling made for a very special and memorable holiday. We loved the ice cream places and the pistachio pastries. We found (almost) private rocks to swim from and bask in the sunshine. Sadly we did not meet Cinzia who was away, but Nunzio answered all our queries and was very gracious. Definitely a hidden gem! Thank you!

Summary: Having had phone and email contact with the owners (Cinzia and Nuncio) we had good directions for finding the property, which was off the main road (it would be fairly necessary to have access to a car - and it took us a few days to get used to driving in and out of the gates, set in a stone wall). The three of us that stayed there for 2 weeks found the farm house and the setting delightful - the property was beautiful and very clean, decorated and maintained. The owners, who lived nearby, were very sociable and helpful, with both support and advice. Being set in lemon groves, the house was cool in the hottest parts of the days and there were lovely plants and trees all around - also good views of Mount Etna. The property was also quite handy for travelling about, both north and south, and for driving up Etna. Some of the places we visited were beautiful and interesting (however, we found the actual driving a bit nervy at times! However the motorways were good, as was the road up Etna). We ate out a number of times - Il Tocco (recommended by Cinzia) near Acireal was good - especially for vegetarians. We also ate in Taormina several times - there are lots of restaurants there, and we did not find a bad one We have no criticisms or faults about the property, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends or relatives.
