I am a Gibraltarian living in London - like most Gibraltarians I love the sun and the Mediterranean food of southern Spain. I love to visit as often as I can - our Casa is my family's favourite place to come together - whether that is my husband and kids or my large extended family who live on the Rock or close-by in Spain.
Sotogrande is a large private estate. It has its own secure manned entrances. It is a mixed community of people who live and work there all year round plus holidaymakers from all over Europe. It offers a classic southern European setting with beaches, golf, tennis, water sports and easy access to the Costa del Sol and Costa del Luz. Gibraltar is 20 minutes drive and Malaga is 60 minutes using the easily accessed toll road.
Good, safe, sandy beaches (Torreguardiaro) are five minutes away by car but the whole coast is one long beach - and beach beds and shades are available on almost all beaches these days.
THE VILLA
Our villa is a perfect family (or families) with older children and teenagers.
It sleeps 10 across 3 double rooms and two twin rooms.
The main house has three bedrooms (two doubles and a twin). Each room has its own bathroom with shower - the master bedroom also has a jacuzzi bath. The annexe has a double and a twin room plus small kitchenette area. The pool is set in the spacious mature garden which has ample sunny and shaded areas.
The annexe is perfect for a family of four or as we use it for giving guests or teens their own space.
The large kitchen/diner is well equipped with modern appliances and cookware whether like me you love to cook or like my husband to fire up the bbq or the traditional charcoal chimney.
Eating outside is one of the best things about Villa life.
There is a good quality wooden cot and high chairs.
The separate utility room has washing machine, dryer and spare fridge/freezer.
There is an Avocado fruit tree.
There is a car port and/or easy external parking.
FACILITIES
The main living room has a brand new flat screen TV and DVD player with a full range of UK satellite channels (incl. sports and movies plus on demand movies). There are also around 100 dvd movies.
There is also a movie screening room with DVD player plus Xbox360, PS2 & PS3.
Free Wi-Fi is via fibre optic cable.
The pool has 10 sun beds.
All bedrooms have air conditioning.
LOCAL MANAGEMENT
We have local property managers who are always on hand to help with questions or queries or any small issues.
LOCALE
There are three main supermarkets within five minutes drive - Supercor (a Waitrose equivalent), Mercadona (a Sainsbury's equivalent) and there's a Lidl.
In 5 minutes walking distance is the Paniagua complex where you will find great Spanish coffee shops, hairdressers, newspaper shop, pharmacy and a couple of good restaurants.
The Sotogrande Marina is five minutes drive - perfect for an evening stroll or meal or an ice-cream (helado).
The nearest small town is Pueblo Nuevo - a working town - which is also 5 minutes drive - here are plenty of lovely breakfast (desayunos) and coffee shop choices plus some small grocers one of which is open on Sundays - not the case for all the main supermarkets.
AND BEYOND
If you head East towards Marbella - you'll find the classic Costa del Sol of beachfront towns like Estepona, San Luis de Sabanillas and San Pedro.
If you head West towards (and beyond) Algeciras you will find the Bahia Water Park - a great day out. And from there it's the Atlantic coast with world famous surf centre Tarifa and miles of deserted beaches. This ancient fishing coast is much less developed than the Costa del Sol and there's lots to explore.
And, of course, north Africa and the Moroccan coastal towns are only a 30 minute hydrofoil away if you want to sample the heady buzz of Tangiers.

Summary: Juliette's beautiful property in Sotogrande was all we could have asked for and more. The photos are amazing but they still don't do the property justice. We were a group of 10 and sleeping arrangements could not have been better. Everyone had there own rooms with separate bathrooms. All bedrooms/bathrooms were generous in size just perfect for everyone. Like the property, the location is idyllic. Just so many places to visit within an a few hours drive at the most and we had great recommendations from Juliette about what to see and do. Some of the Highlights were, the visit to the Rock of Gibraltar just 25mins away, to the beautiful Hertaige listed town of Ronda with its stunning canyon views, and the day trip to Tangier that can be done easily if you have a car. Juliette is the best person to deal with. Communication was clear and easy and she was so responsive. This honestly was the best holiday stay we have ever had. It comes with my highest recommendation. We made memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks so much Juliette for being such a big part of it for us!!

Summary: Firstly I just want to say what a wonderful host Juliette is. She was available for queries, very helpful and always prompt and polite with her responses. My family of 5 (3 kids 3 -18) stayed with my parents and my brother. We all had a wonderful time. The annexe/pool house was perfect for my husband and I and the two youngest. It was quiet for the kids at bedtime and in the morning when they wanted a lie in and close to us so that they weren’t worried about being in a new place. Also good for when they needed the loo after being in the pool. The house is on a junction so occasionally a bit noisy when a loud scooter goes past but it is mostly lovely and quiet and relaxing. The main house was lovely and had everything we needed to cook when we stayed in. All bedrooms have A/C and while the main house doesn’t this wasn’t an issue for us as we were either outside or going to bed. The house is in a great location. There is a wonderful Italian (not just pizza) 5 mins walk away, also a newsagents and a few coffee shops, a bar and a pharmacy. There are two supermarkets a 15 min walk away, supermercado and mercado. Mercado is the slightly cheaper of the two. We used both for the different things. You can also go across the road where there are other shops including where you can buy inflatables. Cabs are plentiful but expensive, €20 for 5min journey but still cheaper than us hiring a minivan for 8. Hiring a car would be easier though and good for exploring further

Summary: We enjoyed a week at Casa Julieta with family and our young children and had a great time. There was plenty of room, and having a couple of bedrooms in the pool house meant there was some private space, even in a larger group. Juliette was great to deal with and helpful with our early check in request. The house is really well appointed, although there’s only air conditioning in the bedrooms, which meant it did get pretty hot in the communal areas, but we were there during a very hot spell of weather. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Summary: The house is as described. Well equipped for 10 people. A lot of plates, glasses, pans to cook and enjoy meals. …. All the rooms are large. The garden is wonderful, well maintained. The pool is big and clean. A/C in all bedrooms but not in living room which is sometimes missing. The beds are very good quality. The owner Juliette responds very quickly and in case, local people come to repair or help that we appreciated a lot. However the kitchen ( furnitures and fridges) may need some renewal. There are several steps ( stairs of 1 or 2 steps) to go from one room to another that could be dangerous for young children. The global impression is very positive and I recommend this property.

Summary: They say you get what you pay for and Casa Julieta met and exceeded all of our expectations. The house was spotless and provided everything we needed and the pool house was and ideal hideaway ideal for our 3 teenagers. The pool is stunning and big with plenty of sun beds for a family of 8. Finally Juliette our host was amazing and responsive and made the whole experience one that I would definely want to do again. Until the next time 😀😀😀😀
