Summary: What's not to like? What you see in the pictures is what you get - and much more. The location is great for anyone who wants to see this part of the world (North East Italy, close to Venice and Trieste). You can be in Venice within hours - a great contrast to this stay - and get to places like Trieste and Slovenia which are so close by - or the mountains or the sea which are also close by. The place itself is featured in a magazine which tells the story of its history and wonderful renovation; we found this magazine, along with other helpful guides for tourists, in the main hall downstairs. The magazine cover has a picture of the place, with a detailed story of its history and amazing interior renovation. Luisella gave us a spare copy of the magazine, which now serves as a coffee table book in our dining room at home. We can flip through the centerfold of the magazine, see the story of the place, and use it to describe to our guests how beautiful the place is and how wonderful our stay was. Luisella was the best host. We would book this place again - a great summer spot. This would be a great stopover for anyone interested in a winter getaway too - like the 2026 Winter Olympics (Cortina, Italy), which is ~ 200 km away (~ 2 or 3 hour drive).

Summary: Amazing property. A 1600s building restored with every conceivable modern convenience. In the country, but within minutes of shopping, sight seeing and trains. The hosts were unbelievable people. Kind, caring, considerate...willing to assist with the most minute detail. They even had fresh food and juices for us everyday. In true old world tradition, when we arrived, were settled and asked for a local restaurant suggestion....they actually insisted on preparing us a delicious meal instead. Each morning, a fresh pastry and bread were at the door. Two WC's made life for four people very convenient. The living room fireplace was an added bonus. Massimo even kindled the first one for us. Once you stay here, you'll count the days until u can return. Many many thanks to Luisa and Massimo for the perfect guest house, warm smiles and gracious charm.

Summary: We spent a week staying in Casa Ponca and were completely charmed. The home, built in 1630 has been lovingly restored keeping the old world charm while adding all the mod cons. Giassico is like a time warp. You enter the village and are transported back several hundred years. Collio Friulli is the hidden gem of Italy. It has fascinating history, beautiful wines and gourmet food. Luisella is a gracious host and she helped us plan all of our adventures which made the experience so much richer than if we had been on our own. If you are looking for an incredible Italian adventure without the usual tourist crowds you can't do better that Casa Ponca. We would come back in a heartbeat!
