Summary: The castle is absolutely magical. It has an incredibly welcoming energy and situation in nature. Lots of great hikes from the door and a perfect place to lounge, read books and relax. We would highly recommend anyone thinking about staying in this place to dive in. Esteve was fantastic with all communications as well, a pleasure to deal with. TT

Summary: We fell in love with this property. The setting could not be more beautiful and peaceful, and the house retains a powerful sense of history along with the modern comforts. It turned out to be everything I had hoped for when I made the reservation. As Americans who think of a 200-year old property as being "old" it was so special for us to stay in a place that dates back nearly a thousand years! Charming small rustic pool by the front gate and a lovely outdoor dining area, lots of trails and a waterfall nearby, so many wonderful surprises. We will never forget our stay there. Esteve was very responsive and helpful, check in and out was a breeze. Thank you for sharing your home!

Summary: This is a beautiful property with a lovely outlook. Being 1000 years old or so its not all mod cons but is well looked after. Some of it is extraordinary. Real history. When problems arose Esteve was super prompt and efficient in dealing with them. The one neighbor is wonderful and the two nearby waterfalls are beyond beautiful. A haven for butterflies and dragonflies. Lots of memories and adventures. Walks aplenty too.

Summary: What a privilage to stay somewhere with so much history and character. Despite the age of the house it is very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. The boys enjoyed exploring the garden and playing in the plunge pool and we all appreciated the BBQ and fire pit and listening to the wildlife at night. The house is quite remote and at the end of a long lane so shop in Banyoles before you arrive. We used the house as a base for walking and day trips to La Garrotxa, Besalu and Girona. Esteve was a great host, checking to see if we needed anything and how we were getting on. I definitley hope to return again. So much more to see.

Summary: The Castell de Roca is a gem, hidden 3 klm from the road to Banyoles. The river by the house is enchanting. You can start multiple hiking/trail run trails right from the house. Contact with the host is very easy. All the rooms offer enough privacy. Ping Pong table was used to organise nighttime competition games. Our dog was always outside, going for a swim whenever she felt like it.. We met the farmer who came to check on his cattle. Very friendly man. We learned making coffee with the ‘percolator’ and enjoyed the slow cooking method.
