Positive: This is a very special place thanks to Chris’ wonderful hospitality. We were warmly welcomed and Chris has many wonderful stories to tell. The grounds are well-kept and the rooms are very charming.
Negative: Not a criticism - the breakfast is absolutely wonderful and well worth it - but for EUR 25 per person we think the guests should be informed in advance. We were not told until check-out.

Positive: The chateau was a fairy-tale come true. So much thought has clearly been poured into every decoration, service, item to make you feel like you are living in royal luxury. The facilities were centrally located among all the main attractions we wanted to see in the Loire Valley, making for easy day-trips wherever we needed. Tours was a 20-min drive and had everything we needed for convenient shopping and dining. The hosts are among the most generous, fascinating people that I have met in my travels. Frankly, it's worth the drive and price just to have a chat in the gardens with them (lol but the house stands on its own)
Negative: I wish I had signed up for the spa / gym. They have a refurbished, modern facility underneath the house and I should have looked into it ahead of time.

Positive: Chateau a’Ardree is simply stunning and from my experience of travelling in France and beyond if right at the top of the most amazing placed I have stayed. The restoration of the Chateau and grounds is impeccable and yet it retains a the sort of loved and lived in patina that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in....you can curl up in one of the sofas with a book and drink and let the hours drift by. Amazing, thank you Chris for and wonderful and unforgettable stay. Bill and Kara.

Positive: The host, Chris, makes you feel at home. Friendliness and warmth -- fantastic and unbeatable! Facilities very nice. Breakfast very complete and very good.
Negative: No full meals served. Need to drive to restaurants (but, no worry, Chris solves any problem...)
