Summary: On the border of the town with the vineyards ideal for exploring. Loads of character and lovely garden. Proximity of motorway barely an issue. Very responsive owner and friendly neighbours. Recommend.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. A beautiful, spacious, well equipped house with lovely original features and furniture, typical of the area. The garden is big and private. There's even a separate games room with table football and table tennis. We were greeted by a very helpful and friendly neighbour with the key on arrival who was very attentive, showing us around the property and ensuring we were settled in. Antoine also contacted us to welcome us and make sure all was well. The town of Charnay-les-Macon with shops is only a 5 minute drive away but we found a lovely way to walk to it daily, through the pretty village (20-30 minutes). Although we could hear the motorway it wasn't bothersome. There is a pretty church in the village with a view of the stunning countryside from behind it including La Roche de Solutre. All the surrounding villages are very pretty and the town of Cluny particularly so. We hired bicycles cheaply from the tourist information hut on the outskirts of Charnay by the disused railway where you can cycle safely off road for miles. Luckily we had superb weather and Charay-les-Macon is a great spot from which to explore this beautiful part of France. We even took a day trip to Geneva from here. Many thanks to Antoine.

Summary: "Perfecly clean. Very quiet. Country village. Large garden with a lot of tress, hence no vast views over the surrounding country. Bakery and supermarket 5 mins car drive away. Ease to find with GPS or Internet guide."
