Situated in the picturesque sector of the Auxois district of Burgundy and on the edge of the Ouche Valley, this charming character house is in the centre of a charming Burgundian village within easy reach of the market towns of Bligny sur Ouche, Arnay le Duc, Pouilly en Auxois and only 25 minutes from the wine town of Beaune. The regions capital Dijon is 45 minutes drive. The area around the property offers tranquility, scenic beauty and access to the major attractions of Burgundy.
The property comprises: An entrance directly from a courtyard, to an hallway leading to a charming sitting/dining room with a stone floor, a Burgundy stone fireplace and an exposed stone walls and oak beams. A kitchen with fitted floor units, door access to the courtyard garden and an informal dining corner. Connecting from the kitchen is a second sitting room with a delightful ceramic tiled floor, wood burning stove and door access to the courtyard. Also on the ground level and with internal and external access is a garage used more for storage and a workshop. There is also a toilet with wash hand basin on this level.
The upper floor comprises a hallway leading to a sitting room or hobby room, three bedrooms, the master bedroom has a en suite shower room, toilet and a wash basin and another has a wash hand basin. A shower room with toilet and wash basin.
The courtyard garden is to the rear of the property and offers a delightful area for sitting, relaxing, cooking and dining outdoors. The owners have planted carefully and created a very desirable and colourful courtyard garden. The courtyard also offers several stone outbuildings for storage of wood and tools. At the side of the property through a gated entrance is a private parking area.

Summary: We enjoyed our time so very much. We BBQ’ed on the tiny French grill outside in the beautiful flowering stone wall enclosed garden. A perfectly tranquil setting within a few minutes drive through absolutely stunning scenery to the local chateaux restaurants which were wonderful.

Summary: The gîte was one of the best we've stayed in (and we've been coming to France for at least 15 years). Well converted, characterful, old French country furniture, good showers!, very peaceful village, beautiful countryside. It has it all!

Summary: Possibly the finest rental I have ever booked. Absolutely everything was catered for, meaning I could have arrived with just a tiny suitcase. The house is charming, characterful and comfortable and the booking process, as well as ongoing support during the stay, were first-rate. This lovely farm cottage quickly started to feel like home. No hesitation in recommending it.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay in Auxant. The cottage is bigger than it loos in the pictures with plenty of space for all of us with a really nice outdoor area. Beaune and Dijon are within easy reach and both worth a visit. We will definitely book again if we're in the area.

Summary: Positives: large house-good beds-owner very responsive-nice welcome pack (tea, coffee, wine, sweets, etcetera)-extra fridge + freezer space in garage. Negatives: relatively small kitchen with old dishwasher & fridge, no extractor hood which caused the alarm to go off. Bathrooms also need some refurbishment.

Summary: The home in Auxant is perfectly charming. It has all the amenities one needs and is a peaceful location from which one can explore Burgundy. Summary: If you're looking for a relaxing stay out of the way of tourists and the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you. Very private and charming drive to get to the village house. Upon arrival, the house was clean and welcoming. There was a bottle of wine, sweets, and fresh water for us to have. We also very much appreciated how clean everything was and the comfort of the beds. We loved reading on the terrace in the morning with a warm cup of coffee. Absolutely beautiful, relaxing place to put your feet up, enjoy a bottle of wine and just enjoy the scenery. The home itself has everything you need. Multiple clean places to sleep, nice showers, fully equipped kitchen, separate game room, even a nice game box with checkers, chess -- and a very nice DVD and music collection to relax! Peaceful and secluded, the place is fantastic to enjoy some quiet time. The restaurants nearby are excellent. And if you need anything at all, you will be attended to immediately. There is great biking and walking along the beautiful canals. Canal boat rides available too. I would go back to this location without hesitation. Thank you Tim and Jan for a fantastic experience. We definitely plan to come back!

Summary: We had a great week staying at the Character Village House! The property is clean, spacious, comfortable and relaxing. Our favorite part was the outside garden which is beautiful and great for relaxing with a glass of wine. While the location is outside of Beaune, it is only about a 20 minute drive into the town, which we found enjoyable with beautiful landscape. Plus, we enjoyed staying more in the countryside. Is very accessible to many wineries and charming towns all around Burgundy. The house had everything we needed for a quiet, comfortable, relaxing stay. The bed was super comfortable, kitchen well equipped for cooking, and many different living areas for hanging out - our favorite being the upstairs living room which is spacious and great for watching TV, playing games or reading. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to coming back!
