2 Bedroom Cottage in Dickenson Bay

Sugar Shack Cottage is located at the bottom of a 2.5 acre estate, surrounded by a mature tropical garden. It is cooled by trade winds, shaded by trees but alight with morning sunshine. Two buildings are joined by a covered patio and wooden deck with built-in Jacuzzi, a perfect area to enjoy outdoor living including al fresco meals. The main structure comprises a bedroom with king-size bed, a small bathroom, living-room and kitchen. The second bedroom with two single beds and ensuite bathroom is separate across the patio. The well-equipped kitchen can be opened up to become an indoor/outdoor bar area. WIFI is available throughout and there is a smart TV and a bluetooth compatible stereo in the living room.
Sugar Shack is a cozy, comfortable spot for a Caribbean holiday with a difference, a little haven in the vicinity of an array of possible activities.
Sugar Shack History: We completed the construction of our house on a 2.5 acre plot on the hill in 1989 and built the Sugar Shack at the bottom of the garden in 1994. It started out as a one-room guest house for our visitors and grew to suit the needs of our overseas family and friends. The second bedroom and bathroom have just been added. We are only now starting to rent the property because we are retired and looking for ways to keep busy and stay in touch with the world.
Points of Interest: There is only a garden-view from the cottage but by walking to the top of the same garden one can enjoy the ever-changing spectacle of sunsets. Sugar Shack is private and yet within easy access of a large variety of activities. Dickenson Bay is a 5-minute walk (downhill!). It is the location of Rex Halcyon Cove, Sandals, Antigua Village, Siboney and Buccaneer Beach Club. Watersport facilities such as jet- and water-skiing, several restaurants, a Casino and a nightclub are available to visitors who do not stay at any of the hotels. We are within 5 - 10 minutes by car from town, a giant new supermarket, an 8-theater Cinemaplex and three shopping centers. 10 minutes away, Cedar Valley, an 18-hole Golf course welcomes visitors daily.
Do you love dogs?: Our two dogs are kept on the other side of the fence unless you request their company. They are not allowed on the patio or deck of the Cottage but will gladly come and visit in the garden if you wish.

Summary: The sugar shack was nothing less than amazing - Llsa and Bill are the most lovely hosts. This cottage was fully equipped with everything we wanted and needed, and looked exactly like the photos. The location of the sugar shack was also ideal - a close walk to several restaurants, close to one of the most gorgeous beaches (Dickinson bay), and a few corner store quick food item spots as well. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway from fast paced life, this is the place for you. We spent 7 days at the sugar shack, and already want to come back and enjoy a morning coffee with Llse, Bill, and their sweet dog Missy. I mentioned my puppy many times, and Llse was so thoughtful and sweet that she baked her homemade doggy biscuits to take home. Thank you so much for the spectacular hospitality - it was a trip that we will never forget. We are so grateful to have met you, Llse and Bill. Thank you again! Much love, from Canada.

Summary: We loved staying at the Sugar Shack. It was our oasis after our days at the beach or exploring the island. The cottage is spacious with a very comfortable king bed, well equipped kitchen and ample outdoor space. We sat outside on the loungers every morning watching the birds and doing our WORDLE (great wifi) and ate dinner at the outdoor table. There were very few bugs and the breeze was heavenly. We particularly liked how private the cottage is - it really did feel like our own piece of heaven. Isla was very responsive and great to deal with. We drove around the island and decided Dickenson Beach which is an 8 minute walk is as pretty a beach as anywhere else on the island. We also liked the overall location on the north end of the island. I'd highly recommend a stay on Antigua at the Sugar Shack.

Summary: We had a wonderful vacation in Antigua and the property we stayed at contributed a great deal to this impression. The cottage is lovely, clean and very practical and well equipped on a beautiful property in the Dickenson Bay area. Summary: Sugar Shack is a beautifully secluded cottage that is located within the gated grounds of the owners property yet only 5 minutes walk from the fabulous Dickenson Beach. Two large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, lounge, well equipped kitchen, a great outdoor decking area and large gardens make it an ideal property for 4 people. Sandra did our personal washing (free of charge) and returned it the same day, fantastic service! Beach towels were provided and a noodle!Its a great location approximately 20 mins drive from the airport, 5 mins from a large well stocked supermarket and within easy reach of all that Antigua has to offer. There are many good restaurants within easy driving distance but do also try some of the roadside and local vendors where you will get fresh and tasty food at a good price. Our host Ilse made us feel so welcome, providing plenty of useful information, tasty baked treats, even homeopathic medicines when two of our party managed to tread on sea urchins. She also welcomed us into her home for morning coffee and good old natter. Ilse is a very personable lady and so easy to get on with. I wholeheartedly recommend Sugar Shack for your Antiguan adventure.

Summary: This is an easy 5 stars to give a great location on a wonderful part of the island . Isla and Bill are perfect hosts and their team looked after us very well ! Summary: You are never quite sure if the pictures will accurately reflect the property. In this case rest assured, the cottage is quiet, tucked away, and a tropical paradise 300m from the beach. Ilse is a wonderful host and the staff was equally charming.
