This classic craftsman cottage will surround you with natural wood, lots of natural light/breezes, and timeless coastal charm. This home is situated in a quiet historic neighborhood steps from the neighborhood beaches, a working marina, boat launch, and a short walk to a quaint downtown with good restaurants, public parks, town activities like live music, town dock with fishing/canal cruise options.
Located minutes from Cape Cod, ferries to the islands, historical sites, and scenic drives, this house is just 1 hour from Boston. Wareham/Buzzard’s Bay is served by regional bus (year-round) and train service (summer season only). Bike/Boat rental companies are plentiful in the area for any equipment you may need for your stay.
This tidy and compact house provides everything for a comfortable stay, and enough room for a great family vacation. The house supports all season use, with great heating, ceiling fans, and great through breezes. There is high-speed wifi, on-site gas grill and washer/dryer available for use. Coffee lovers will be pleased with a variety of brewing instruments (Moka, Keurig, Drip, Fench Press...grinder and milk frothing wand). Outdoor shower, firepit, table and chairs, as well as a storage garage if needed.
Please note: at this time there is not air conditioning in the house, and the fireplace is inaccessible to guests. This is a classic summer cottage -- the walls are thin, in their vintage original construction, and the stairway and bathrooms are compact. The house works great for family and close friends. Other guests have mentioned that there are some things that may not be appropriate for super young children (fireplace with a brick foundation, steep stair, and there are no child safe cabinet locks etc). Please note that the toilet on the first floor is tucked under the stair (with sink and full door!), and feels like you are in the hull of a ship. The house works great for family and close friends.

LOCATION: The village of Onset, and regional attraction Onset beach, is a delightful town at the top of Buzzard’s Bay, on Onset Bay. The town is full of restaurants/bars and small boutique hotels, and full of historic charm, only a 15 minute walk from the house. Onset is within the Town of Wareham which boasts oyster farms, cranberry bogs, and other major attractions such as golf courses, shopping (antiques to Target), and heritage sites.
The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood, adjacent to a working marina (no loud noises or noxious smells), and has two neighborhood beaches within 3-5 minute walks. Onset beach can be walked to within 15 minutes. Other regional beaches, state parks with delightful forest and bay trails, and waterfront attractions abound. A 25 minute drive to ferries to the Islands–either Woods Hole or New Bedford, as well as historical sights from New Bedford’s whaling port to Plymouth’s first settlement, and Sandwich. Cranberry bogs, fresh oyster farms, and seafood abound.
Easily accessible from Boston via I-495 /Route 25 and Route 28, and Route 6 and I-195 from New Bedford and points southwest.

Summary: Spacious and clean older craftsman home with many things refurbished and updated. Plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out and having two toilets was lovely!! The main shower was wonderful, lots of hot water, and great pressure. Kitchen and washer/dryer are all updated with new appliances. convenient short walk to downtown Onset with cute restaurants and friendly people. We ubered to other towns on the Cape as well. The host was super helpful and responded quickly. Overall wonderful stay!!!

Summary: Our stay at Little Edie was good. It served as a home base for our week long day trips to the Cape Cod / Boston / Buzzard's Bay coastline vacation. Our host communicated well and check in and out were smooth. She also provided a lot of great places to eat and things to do as well. Only issues we had but that we knew we were signing up for was that we went in mid-July and there's no Air Conditioning and that was an issue despite the coastal breezes that came through. In addition, the checkout requested guests sweep the floors and we believe this wasn't the case to whoever stayed before us as they were pretty dirty. That's difficult considering we paid for a cleaning fee on top of our nightly rate and taxes. But as I mentioned, the house is super cute and leaves a great impression once you go in as a craftsman house.

Summary: The house was nice and suited our groups’ needs well. There were lots of amenities, including a washer/dryer. It is important to note that there is no AC in this house. This is mentioned in the listing but then justified by saying that there are cool ocean breezes. When we visited, the house was reading 89 degrees, hot, stuffy, and humid in the house. No breezes, no air flow, and unbearable to sleep in. We understand that weather is not predictable and cannot be controlled. However, this is 2024 and climate change is real. Extreme weather is occurring everywhere. This house did not cool down with windows open, We discussed this with the owner and tried to get her understanding and some support. We even thought about moving to a nearby motel but instead decided to buy 3 AC units for the bedrooms to make it through the week but took them with us when we left since they were so expensive. The house is really nice in a great location but we would not consider renting here again in warmer months.

Summary: This house has everything- charm, access to beaches, friendly neighbors and amenities. I stayed with my husband and three kids. The kids were drawn to the bedrooms. They were both spacious and quaint. The accessories of the house were amazing: fans, towels, outdoor shower, wagon, chairs, even condiments in the refrigerator. I could go on and on. I would rebook and look forward to it. Anne was a great host and I feel thankful she let us stay at this beautiful getaway.

Summary: The home was very charming and comfortable. The owner Anne was very responsive before our visit and during. She stocked the home with any supplies that you would need. The kitchen had coffee, spices, oils, some staples, a large variety of pans, dishes, utensils, coffee and tea pots, etc. Everything was labeled and easy to find. The refridgerator is latge. The rooms were very neat and clean. The beds were comfortable. We loved the screened in porch and spent most of our time there. There was a nice breeze, comfortable chairs, a futon and a roomy dining table. The neighborhood was very nice, across from the Marina and a very short walk to the beach. We walked to downtown several times for restaurants, little shops, the beach and the Cape Cod Canal boat tour. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

Summary: Anne is such a lovely, responsive host and makes it very easy to know how her house works and what's available in the surrounding area. We loved the little beach right around the corner; perfect for little ones. The other beaches are also very close by and the house makes for a great hang out too. We want to come back!
