Positive: Lovely countryside location in small village. Large rooms with good antique furniture. Fairly well equipped kitchen. Beautiful covered terrace.
Negative: Kitchen had just two water glasses and lacked cutlery. There were no dish washer tablets. There were lots of flies . There were plenty of glasses locked away in a large glass cupboard. The house is in one of the world top wine regions, but no wine glasses are made available...

Positive: The location was beautiful. We could sit on the terrace and enjoy fantastic views over the countryside, listening to the birds. The neighbouring farmer was kind and friendly. The bedrooms and bathroom were mostly clean, although there were dead insects on the floor and cobwebs round the shutters. A little welcome pouch with a tea bag, coffee sachet and shampoo was left on the bed. The shower was good. There was a kettle, toaster, coffee machine and lots of pans and crockery in the kitchen. There was a washing machine and tumble dryer in the cellar. In principal, the house was attractive. I contacted the host again about the fly problem after we left and she kindly refunded some of the cleaning fee and I thought this was fair.
Negative: We were plagued by hundreds of flies the whole time we were there, even though we kept the doors and windows shut. We spent a considerable amount of time on our first evening swatting and killing as many flies as possible in the kitchen / dining area and in the bathroom. There were a few left by the time we went to bed. When we came down in the morning, there were again hundreds of flies, all over the kitchen equipment, in the coffee maker, crawling over my coat and over the table, it was disgusting. When we tried to make breakfast each morning, we had flies landing on our faces, our arms and crawling over our crockery and cutlery nearby - it was impossible to keep things fly-free and clean; it was a horrible experience. We messaged via Booking.com to request an electric fly killer, but did not receive a reply, so we bought and hung fly papers in the kitchen area. We had to scrub the outside table and chairs before we could use them. We ate outside because the number of flies outside was lower than in the kitchen and we could light citronella candles to try and keep them away. There was cutlery in the drawer, but some of it had dried food on. On the photos, the staircase was wooden. However, it has now been replaced by a metal staircase with an unsafe banister and a low beam at the bottom. There was one bathroom and inclusive toilet downstairs, so if there was more than 4 people staying, you would likely be queuing to use the bathroom.

Negative: no code given. had to call twice to get code. locals had to help us get in. no water. had to call again. manager eventually came out and gave us a crowbar and then watched us open up the muddy street main pipe to turn on the mains water. do not accept bookings if you have not checked the house is clean and ready to go.
