Summary: We had a great stay in Fontvieille. The house was exactly what we were after - spacious, multiple bathrooms, beautiful garden, functional kitchen.. Hubert was very accommodating and we would certainly stay here again.

Summary: Perfectly located, only 800m to the supermarket and 900m to the centre of town. Enough restaurants to visit a different one every night. The locals were all very polite and even with our very limited french did their best for us. The town has a park, places for walking or just sitting enjoying the weather watching the world go by. Arles is just 10 minutes away with Nimes, Avignon and saint marie de la mer 30 minutes away. The property has everything you need, washing machine, dishwasher, wifi etc. Very clean with lovely large garden and pool. The pool was cold but it was only April. Myself amd my 4 year old son still used it to the horror of the wonderful cleaner Corrine who I must say does a great job in the handover explaining everything to us. (Thank you so much Corrine). I highly recommend this property for its beauty and location and would definitely return. I must recommend the restaurant le planet cuisine in the town. Best meal we had in provence.

Summary: In October the pool was too cold for us, but must be lovely during other times of the year. The house looks even nicer than on the pictures of the website. We needed one double bed per person, as we think that 1,40-1,60 m/bed is too small for two adults. Check in and out was easy and uncomplicated. Everything was very clean and the garden has been taken care of regularly.

Summary: Last year my wife and I spent a week here, and it was excellent. But we felt that we needed more time to fully appreciate the house and the surrounding area, so this year we spent the second two weeks of June in Bastide Meriaux – and it was truly wonderful. We were able to fully enjoy the pool and garden on the days when we stayed in Fontvieille, thanks to the excellent weather, and we ate most of our meals in the shade of the terrace. Although there are other houses nearby it’s very peaceful, and feels quite private thanks to the trees surrounding the garden. The walk into the centre of Fontvieille is a gentle 15-20 minute stroll, and my friend and I managed a few visits to sip pastis under the shade of the trees at Le Café while the ladies enjoyed the sun and the pool Our base in Fontvieille offered us the chance to visit so many interesting places within easy driving time, including Avignon, Pont du Gard and Nimes. Arles is only ten minutes away, and a further 35 minutes through the Camargue is Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mer. It takes a little over an hour to get to Marseille, and just over two hours’ drive allowed us to see the spectacular Carcassonne – visiting Narbonne in the late afternoon on the way back. We sincerely hope that we will return to Bastide Meriaux and see some more of this part of France – with all of the history, the beauty, and the very kind people we met everywhere we went. And the wine!

Summary: This house has a traditional appearance which is enhanced by some very attractive furniture and paintings, but it also benefits from being of modern construction with excellent equipment and lighting. Everything is in perfect order, and there’s a great sense of comfort and space. The outside area is really extensive, with the immaculate swimming pool area and the huge garden offering the ideal situation for well-sheltered relaxation, as well as spacious shaded parking areas at the front and side of the house. Fontvieille was easy to reach from Marseille, and it provided a very good location for visiting many places within comfortable driving distance. The village itself is attractive, and is well served by the many restaurants, cafes and shops. For supermarket shopping the E.Leclerc store on the outskirts of Arles provides all you could need – it’s only 8-10 minutes drive from the house. We spent time in Arles, Les Baux, St. Remy and Aix-en-Provence, as well as visiting the nearby Abbaye de Montmajour and the Domaine du Grand Fontanille vineyard. The weather was too good to leave the house to visit other vineyards, or to see the sights of Nimes and Avignon. Our enjoyment of the holiday was greatly enhanced by the information received from the kind and considerate owner, who has ensured that we got full benefit from our visit to Provence. We had been very impressed by the website photos and information for this property - but the reality was so much better! I hope that we return next year, because there is still so much that we would want to see and do.
