Summary: It was like being transported back to 1930s rural France. Beautiful house, Isabelle was superb- she even cooked us dinner and left us ice cream and bread as we arrived in a Sunday and didnโ€™t realise all the supermarkets were closed! Borrowed their bikes and rode to Taillebourg and spent the afternoon drinking beer by the river! Pool beautiful, just great, thanks. It was tricky to find the entrance was the only thing. I would wholly recommend.

Summary: This is a fantastic property with a lovely relationship between house, terrace and pool that let's multi family occupants stay connected and private. It worked brilliantly for us even in record temperatures. We had stayed pre covid at its sister house, This one was even better for us. We used every bed. The bedrooms and mattresses very good, and whilst some showers were a bit dicky they were fixed in a day, so perhaps previous parties hadn't alerted or hadn't used the rooms. Masses of hot water, great selection of glasses, saucepans etc. Maybe upgrade the cutlery and the table mats..... and perhaps the main dining table....but if that's all we're choosing to mention you can imagine that nothing took away our great experience. The grounds are lovely and the service from onsite staff absolutely world class. Only 2 caveats you might like to know about ; First is that it is a historic house. And the owner is not trying to create an IBIS with every surface and door handle feeling like knew. It wears its age with charm and beauty and it would be a travesty to make it anaemic and immaculate. The charm would go. Second caveat is the the request for a 2k euro deposit cheque on arrival caused disquiet from some of our party, especially as we were returning guests. Either way.. don't forget to dust off and bring your cheque book. We left feeling it was a great choice for our multi family holiday

Summary: Superb ยซ maison noble ยป with large rooms, very pleasant garden, beautiful views, very nice pool to soak in the sun, the views, or do laps. Lots of space inside and out to enjoy. The house itself , furnishings, decorations, create an atmosphere part frozen in time, part museum feel, which we found very comfortable to play a card game, read a book to take you back in time, just enjoy family time. And quite lucky to make new friends with the ยซ gardien ยป of the property and have an opportunity to interact, get help, tips and details that enriched our overall experience. Things to note: the castle also rented at the same time has its own entrance. Grounds are for everyone to share and large enough for each group to remain ยซ on their side ยป of the property and be respectful of each otherโ€™s privacy. That said, it could have been different with other people. Should be made a bit more clear upfront. Entrance to the logis is fantastic although quite dangerous to access from the main road (one car can pull in at a time, narrow road, hidden entrance, and exit equally thrilling if not chilling). The TV and Internet were not working .. reception / connection very spotty . Good thing the lodging made us feel these were not indispensable however this could have been more clear upfront. Overall a very enjoyable stay that we all wish could have lasted for many more weeks! Great location from which to discover all this region has to offer.

Summary: A great house for a large family gathering with lots of room. The decor is very traditional but very comfortable. A fantastic pool which is fenced off for safety. The kitchen is well equipped though we did struggle initially with the newly installed stove. This would have been a problem except for the wonderful caretaker Jean-Marie Pape who used his initiative and adapted the system to enable it to be utilised. Jean-Marie and his wife Mireille were fantastic. They responded immediately to any requests for assistance and were both cheerful and helpful. Thank you to you both. The only downside is the poor internet connection though the mobile phone signal is very good. We highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to hold a similar event.

Summary: This property is one of two gorgeous houses on the same estate, and when you step inside you realise that this, the smaller looking house, hides its beauty on the inside. The original decor and antique furniture in every room gives this house the feeling of a home. All the down stairs rooms connect, there is of a large kitchen with all the modern conveniences, a dining room and large dining table, two hall ways a large lounge and a cozy library, as well as a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom suitable for the disabled or those that find stairs difficult. Up stairs is equally as large, with spacious bedrooms with en-suites and stunning views from every window, the back of the house overlooks the houses patio, private garden and wonderful roman style swimming pool. This is a wonderful house to have a relaxed French family holiday, near a myriad of beautiful Roman villages and towns all within easy driving distance of the estate. It is also possible to rent the whole estate, and having two houses it's the perfect place to bring two families together for an intimate family wedding on the grounds of this French aristocratic family home.

Summary: I didn't want to leave a review as it would attract more interest and I might not be able to have the 2 weeks we want for next summer, but this property was brilliant. we were between 9 and 15 depending of the days and we always had space . the park is very secure for the children, who enjoyed the pool, the bikes available and made dens in the garden, played boules, and were able to run around safely. the property is looked after by a caretaker who lives on site, in another house, and it is very reassuring to know they are there, even if we rarely saw them. the lady who welcomed us was very nice and helpful, available night and day if necessary. there is also a chateau within the park but it is about 100 m away and their swimming pool is facing the other way so both properties have their own privacy and we didn't hear the tenants of the chateau during our stay . St saviniens is only 5-8 min drive and offers market, super market, docteur, boulangerie etc and also children activities. we didn't visit that much the area as we were so comfortable in the house, but there are activities for all within the region around the property , for all tastes. definitely a great stay in a great house with a great landlord very responsive and flexible and the care takers as well as the lady meeting us (and doing the inventory when we leave) were just wonderful. we will definitively want to come back next year ! xx
