Positive: the setting is really beautiful with amazing views of Cotopaxi. The breakfast was amazing and overall the food was very good.

Negative: The wooden stove is really cosy but the rooms get cold quite quickly if you dont keep the fire going overnight.

Positive: Beautiful property with beautiful views. The rooms are lovely and we all loved the ponchos that were supplied for use. We also appreciated having all meals available at the lodge, which were yummy:)

Negative: The staff were a bit hands off during our stay. For example, when sitting in the lounge area, no one ever checked on us to see if we needed anything, or if we wanted the fire lit. We had to seek out staff frequently, which makes you feel like a bit of a nuisance.

Summary: Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location! Definitely worth a stay.

Positive: Wonderful experience, we got to see the Cotopaxi early in the morning and we were able to horse ride in the National Park. The staff was amazing and food was spectacular. The only downside was our horse ride guide, Rafael, who was very disrespectful and inattentive.

Positive: We loved it here! So peaceful and beautiful. The property was cozy and comfortable. The fireplaces in the room were sufficient in staying warm all night. The kitchen staff were super friendly and the food was pretty good. The desk manager oddly didn’t give us a tour of the property even though we watched him do it with every other guest checking in. He also told us there weren’t any kids ponchos but immediately after one of the kitchen ladies brought us one. Not sure why he said that or why he treated us differently? Overall we had a great stay though.

Positive: Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excursions booked through hotel were well organized. Beautiful countryside and views of volcano (when not cloudy). Raul our guide for the full day Cotopaxi day trip was amazing! He knew all about the ecosystem and wildlife, and was the perfect amount of engaged but also let us have our own experience. Lennon at the front desk was extremely welcoming and helpful, he made our stay very pleasant.

Negative: There was no fan in the bathroom, so it got very wet from condensation even with window open. Room got quite cold, there is a fire place that they will light for you but once it burns out you have to stoke yourself. There was no instruction on this so we didn’t feel comfortable doing it ourselves.

Positive: Amazing place near the north gate of Cotpaxi NP. The stay here was a real treat, and we felt really spoilt by the wonderful staff (e.g. finding a fire already lit in our room when coming back in the afternoon). Organising the pick-up from Machachi and a tour into the park (with a great guide) worked very smoothly as well. Food was great too. We loved the view on Cotopaxi from the garden (when it sometimes emerged from the clouds).

Negative: Be aware that the north side of Cotopaxi NP is really remote and a bit difficult to reach (some of the roads from Machachi are pretty bad). But once you are there, it is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and the staff were really helpful in organising the transport and a tour into the park.

Positive: Our stay at the lodge was absolutely amazing. We loved being in such a remote and beautiful area near Cotopaxi National Park. They offer a lot of tours and excursions but our favorite thing to do was exploring the surrounding areas on our own as well as hiking to a nearby waterfall. The staff was extremely kind, accommodating, and helpful. The food was always fresh and well prepared. We honestly could have stayed here longer and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jesica, Eduardo, and Jonathan!

Negative: These are not critiques but things to be aware of prior to booking. The lodge is a bit far out from the main roads and are not paved, I would recommend taking a car with high clearance to and from the property. Dinner is a pre-set menu so I would make note if you are a picky eater. Our room also did not have a dresser or closet so we had to live out of our suitcases during our stay. Also, this is a bit of a premium experience so prices for food and services will be higher what you would expect to pay for this area.
