There is a step and a stream in garden, 10 yards away.. This tranquil and charming, semi-detached character cottage, which is over 200 years old, creates a comfortable and cosy holiday home situated on the borders of Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire. Located at the end of a quiet lane in the small village of Baldwins Gate and enjoying unspoilt countryside views, Chorlton Moss Cottage is a place to relax and unwind in. A pretty brook side walk leads to a shop, pub and restaurant, whilst a wider range of amenities can be found in Newcastle-under-Lyme, which is approximately 6 miles away from the cottage, with Keele University just 3 miles. It is also ideally located for visiting Chester, Alton Towers, Trentham Gardens, historic 5 potteries towns and the Peak District National Park, making this an ideal base for families. Other places to visit within the immediate area include various farmers markets, Whitmore Hall, pretty villages such as Maer which has links to Charles Darwin, Churnet Valley Steam Railway and Ironbridge Gorge. Further afield, there is a train station within 20 minutes, with good rail connections into Birmingham and Manchester, within an hour, and even London, 1½ hours. Horse riding, tennis courts and golf can be found within 15 minutes of the cottage. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Summary: This was the perfect escape for our family - two double beds and a bunk bed meant we all slept in comfort. On a wet weekend the cottage was warm and homely with a log fire and Rayburn. Very handy to have the use of a washing machine, and a particular highlight was making a delicious crumble from the plentiful damsons and apples in the garden! The drawers full of toys, games and DVDs meant the children were kept happy even when it was raining, and they enjoyed exploring the garden in the dry intervals!

Summary: We had a lovely weeks stay at Chorlton Moss Cottage. We went with our daughter and her husband and our two and a half year old grandsons. The garden is the crowning glory of this cottage, we all just loved it and for energetic twins it was perfect. We had a day out at Alton Towers which is about 40 minutes away and a nice drive. Can highly recommend the steak house in the village. I think it is called Blockhouse at the Sheet Anchor. I had the most amazing starter of celeriac roast hazelnut and Truffle soup. Great for steaks and a Sunday roast too. There is a nice park in the village behind the village hall. The cottage has lots of DVD’s and games in the drawers and the little bunk bed room has lots of books and toys too. We had lovely weather while we were there and my husband and son in law got a couple of rounds of golf in at nearby Onneley golf club which was 5 minutes away. Chorlton Moss is a lovely cottage with a family home feeling and we would love to visit again.

Summary: Highly recommended to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the country. We brought the kids with us and used Chorlton Moss Cottage as a base to head to Alton Towers the next day, once we arrived we simply couldn't believe how beautiful the location was. The Cottage features a large back garden for you to take in the splendor of the country, and enough room for a kick about with the kids. Paula our host was a delight to deal with, and made every effort to help us. Thank you once again Paula, we'll certainly be back!

Summary: Wonderful cottage in a wonderful location, tucked away among some idyllic countryside. Was perfect for us visiting all our family who live locally. So nice to see wild rabbits and pheasants on the lawn! We definitely hope to return again.
