Spend the holidays on the lake with family and friends! Escape to our peaceful lakefront vacation rental! Perfect for groups and others looking to unwind with their families and friends, our spacious house sleeps up to 12 guests. BOOK NOW fall and winter! The House of Seven Gables is a beautiful lake front property located on Wonder Lake, Illinois is perfect for family reunions. This classic lake house features wall to wall knotty pine, four spacious bedrooms, a large lofted family room, a living room with a panoramic view of the lake, a bar, a game room equipped with a pool table, and foosball table. Outside private area has are two decks, Weber grill, a fire pit, ping pong table, a cabana with couch and hammocks. The professionally landscaped resort like grounds for guest access use include: a sand beach, a swing set, a two hole putting green, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and a row boat! The house sleeps 12 comfortably. Dogs are welcome...$50 per dog with a maximum of 3 dogs. Please inform host prior to arrival to add dogs to booking costs. If unsure of the number of dogs at the time of booking, payment is due upon arrival. Wonder Lake is a private lake, boats are allowed but must meet specific rules that must be followed. Please message us for more information. Excellent lake for sailing, water skiing and fishing. The House of Seven Gables is conveniently located just 50 miles from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Summary: This is a fun lake-side property with lots of space and lots of amenities. It made for a great weekend family reunion, and there were amenities for all ages including lots of stuff for on the water activities. Fishing was great too. Easy to get to, and easy check in/check out. My family really enjoyed the place!

Summary: We loved every aspect of this stay. We had three small family groups staying in comfort and privacy, with a bedroom and bathroom to spare. One day another batch of family members came for an 80th birthday celebration, and the 15 of us never ran out of activities or places to gather. Lake and beach play, foosball and pool, jigsaw puzzles, and just relaxing in the many comfortable chairs indoors & out. It was a perfect place for a family reunion - something for everyone.

Summary: Our extended family loves everything about this house… this summer was our 8th year staying there (and at the adjacent Coach House) - guess that says it all! Bruce and Pam are so gracious, helpful, and we’re always so glad to see them again each summer. Paddle boards, kayaks, swingset, s’mores at the firepit, and fishing off the pier are highlights for us!

Summary: This place has it all....a cool house on a beautiful lake with relaxing sunset views. The home is the kind of classic rustic cottage we were looking for but with plenty of amenities. Inside, plenty of space for a large or multiple families, party basement great views of lake. Outside; big yard many different areas to sit and relax, fire pit, 6 stand up paddle boards, a rowboat, a canoe, ping pong table and the kids fished off the little pier. Ongoing fireworks, water shows and was walking distance to some great food/bars. It was a great little getaway. We will be back.

Summary: Our extended group of nine, ages 10 to 78, all loved staying at this house on Wonder Lake! The house has tons of personality and charm, and it was appreciated that there was a bedroom and bathroom on every level. The teens loved that we could spread out in the house and they could enjoy their own spaces. There is so much to do right at the house with a private lawn and beach area, paddle boards, fire pit, canoe and kayaks, multiple outdoor eating and sitting areas, corn hole, ping pong and more. The owners were so adept at being instantly responsive and available but not at all intrusive - we had tons of privacy but they were there to help immediately when needed (like when we had some car trouble.) We had a wonderful time and hope we can stay here again! Thank you, Bruce and Pam!
