Apartment description - 2 bedroom newly remodeled apartment with 1 bathroom. One full bathroom, with shower, toilet, sink. Complete kitchen including oven, microwave oven and half-size refrigerator. Turkish carpets and duvet covers. All rooms with ceiling fans. Master bedroom has 150 x 200 cm bed (queen size). Second bedroom has two single bed (90 x 190 cm). 200 x 150 cm sofa-bed in living area.
Location - The apartment is on Akbiyik street, near Akbiyik Cami, 200 meters from the Blue Mosque, in the Sultanahmet neighborhood.
Transportation - From Ataturk airport this apartment can be reached by metro + tramway or of course by taxi. The apartment is at about 400 metres to the Sultanahamet tramway station.
Management - We are a small family company. Lauren is from Dallas, TX and Fernando is from Barcelona, Spain. We currently run 16 holiday apartments in Barcelona and 2 furnished homes in Dallas. We apply our same high standards in every country. We love Istanbul and we hope you will also love to stay in our fourth unit in Sultanahamet and the sixth in this incredible city. Elif takes care of our Istanbul apartments and she will take care of your stay.
Noise levels - The apartment has double glazing. The location is quiet but there is a loud nightly call to prayer 1 hour before sunrise.
Occupancy - The apartment is ideally suited for 4 people. It can sleep up to 6.
Check-in and check-out - The apartment will be ready for you at 16:30 for occupancy. You can drop your bags and get your keys from 12:00 (noon). Our greeter will be at the apartment to greet you and hand you the keys. The check-out time is 11:30am. You can request reserved early check-in or late check-out for a small fee, subject to availability. There is no extra fee for nighttime check-in.

Summary: The location, the people, the check in process - all of it was a wonderful part of the experience. The beds were comfortable, and the place was clean. The apartment could use some updating, but the only real complaint was the living room furniture - which hurts to use. Luckily, we didn't spend much time in the living room. I would stay here anytime.

Summary: Going to a foreign country on your own for the first time can be a bit of a harrowing experience, especially when you chose an country like Turkey, which is out of the box to most people. Staying in this apartment was never one of my worries, and I'm glad to report how comfortable, clean, and cozy the apartment was. It is situated in a more expensive neighborhood, with a lot of tourist hecklers and promoters for restaurants, that were most expensive than we anticipated. Most of the restaurants seemed nice, but they were out of our budget. Bring plenty of money if you plan to eat locally, but its also fun to hop on the tram and go towards other neighborhoods to find what food and amenities they may have. the property manager was friendly, and very quick to respond to inquiries. After figuring out how the locks worked we never had any issue with the building. The only complaint we heard about was the volume of the call to prayer, but if you close the windows they are almost inaudible, and they are softly heard in the morning if you choose to keep the windows open. Being so close to Ayasofya is a great advantage, we went three times early in the morning and late at night to avoid lines, and every time it was an incredible experience. Be adventurous and get an Istanbul Kart so that you can navigate with trams, trains, and ferries. Definitely a worth while and affordable place for a group stay!

As described, it offers amenities beyond a regular hotel; well suited to families with children, as it's always nice to be able to prepare a few meals. Beds are comfortable, appliances all work perfectly in the fairly well equipped kitchen, although the hot water / heater unit is a little temperamental. Manager was quick to respond to questions. Call to prayer is definitely audible despite closed windows but that's the price of being a short walk away. Small convenience store directly across street is handy for beer, milk, eggs & bread; limited items overall, with a larger store about 15-20 minutes away.

Summary: This apartment is wonderful! It's clean, bright, comfortable, roomy, well furnished and set up and is in a great location, very close to the Blue Mosque, but on a quiet street. The person managing the apartment was helpful and very accessible whenever we had a question. When we return to Istanbul, we would definitely want to stay here again.
