Summary: Just back from a long trip away with Fins in Oman being our first stop in January for 2 weeks. We know Oman quite well as tourists having visited the country 8 or 9 times since the early 90's and we have previously camped on the beach at Fins. We thought it would be nice to have a more permanent base in that area for a couple of weeks and we were not mistaken. The house was everything we hoped and expected it would be - clean, spacious, cool and well equipped. We made several excursions out for the whole day in our 4WD and we also enjoyed cooking on the beach in the evening by the sea. The only downside (not the fault of the house) was that we hadn't quite appreciated that to go to a good supermarket one really needs to go back to Muscat outskirts. The fruit and veg shopping and availability of fresh fish is good in Tiwi and Sur but for meat and other fresh food we were happier making the effort to journey back to Muscat. Apart from that we had a really great time and fully intend visiting Oman again next February.

Summary: We are just back from a fantastic 10 days in Oman. We used Fins Beach House as our main base after 2 nights in Muscat and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The location is excellent for exploring much of the east coast, Wadis, Desert (2 hours drive), Sink hole or just relaxing on one of the beaches nearby. We were there with two youngish (4 & 6yrs) children and so it was much more relaxing to be in a house than a hotel. We ate mainly in the house or had picnics or evening BBQ on the beach. The house is very clean, well equipped (kitchen, washing machine, BBQ/parasols/chairs etc for the beach, toys/board games, DVD), spacious (garden, dining areas inside and out, charming omani sitting room, 3 beds rooms with en suite), air conditioned. Tips for future visitors: make sure you do a big grocery shop in Muscat or one of the nearby bigger towns before arriving as the local shops are very limited. I would also recommend getting beach shoes as some of beaches have rocky bits and the shoes also good for Wadi Shab. Bring snorkel and masks - lots of few fishes to see. Thanks again to Fawatim & Anthony for wonderful experience - we will definitely be recommendeing to friends and family and hope, one day, to return.

Summary: The house and the location far exceeded our expectations. As previous reviewers had mentioned the house was well equipped. We had breakfast, prepared packed lunches and had dinner in the kitchen. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. We used the living room (majlis) to read and played (own) guitar. There were many board games to play if you wish to do so. The house was walking distance to the beach and there were many attrations nearby. Initially we thought that 4 days was too long but there were many more places we wished we had time to visit. In hindsight we should have come straight from muscat airport to the house and stayed longer at the Beach House. The guide book available in the house helped us planned our trips and the information from the owners were very good. Review from our 14 year old son - The night sky was beautiful, especially from the roof terrace. I like the privacy of the house, its like we were the only ones in oman. I enjoyed going to the wadi where the water was crystal clear. My fav spot was Bimmah sinkhole.

Summary: The Fins beach house is an absolutely beautiful, tastefully renovated place at a unique spot in a beautiful country. The description on internet totally lives up to everything it has to offer. The owner, Mrs Fawatim, welcomed us and even left us a sweet candy X-Mas tree. The only less positive thing I can think of is the lack of a supermarkt in the vicinity. The closest one is in Sur which is half an hours drive away. When Mrs Fawatim came to say goodbye when we were leaving she told us that we could have ordered groceries with our reservation. She would than have taken care of those. How is that regarding customer service..........

Summary: We were 5 persons staying at The Beach House for 8 days. The owner met us in Muscat with keys and drivingdirections to the house and before and during our stay they were vey helpfull if any problems turned up. The house were comfortable and the surrounding area was fantastic with "your own beach" only 5-10 minutes walk away. At Fins we found a small bakery and foodstuff-shop, but in Sur and Quriyat we could buy almost everything in the supermarkeds. We have trips to Wahiba Sands, Wadi Shab and the Sinkhole at Bimmah. We also visited the turtlebeach at Ras Al Junaiz, which was an extraordinary experience. Breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening on the Beach House varanda were also memorable things from Oman. We surely will recommend this Beach House to anybody who want something different and more than an ordinary vaccations, and we all hope to return to Fins Beach House some day.

Summary: We had a wonderful weekend here. The beach house is well equipped and very comfortable.The short distance from Muscat makes it a perfect weekend getaway. There is plenty of space for 2 familes or a group of friends to share the house. There is a lovely beach less than 5 minutes walk away and other great beaches and the sink hole are a short drive away. We will certainly come back and and enjoy the facility again.

Summary: I had visited The Beach House to look around, and was impressed with it, but actually staying there far exceeded my expectations. This traditional house has been superbly rennovated without losing any of its original Omani character. The furnishings and fittings are stylish, tasteful and well-maintained with Omani culture well in evidence in the maglis (sitting room) cushions and mattresses, the bedroom curtains, tablecloths and the pots around the garden. The plants are native to Oman and suit the pebbled courtyard perfectly. The Beach House is spacious and two or three families or groups of friends can stay without feeling on top of one another. With the beach only 400m. away, and Wadi Shab and Hawiyat Al Najm close at hand, it will make the decision to go camping more difficult in future! I would recommend it to anyone: visitors from overseas or the hardened of us who usually campl

Summary: We had a really pleasant stay at the remarkable, charming and spacious property of Fins-Beachhouse. From the owners we got a warm welcome in Muscat. They gave us precise description to easily find the place. There we found a delightful omani homestead, traditionally built and perfectly renovated in a modern-arabian style. The ‘house’ consists of separate parts of buildings with a partly green courtyard in the middle and the whole complex surrounded by a wall. All sleeping-rooms, kitchen, veranda and livingroom (the ‘majlis’) was fully equipped and everything was well prepared for the guests. Ideal for a group of friends or a family, but as well even fascinating and very comfortable for a couple. Staying in the private atmosphere of this well maintained, clean and nice decorated omani-family-house and exploring the surroundings of the house and the village of Fins gave us new impressions about the country of Oman, that you hardly ever get as a tourist. The coastline near Fins offers a lot of beautiful beaches. The house is ideally situated as a base for excursions to the eastern Hajar. You can easily reach some of the attractive places of Oman: such as Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Shab, the Tower Tombs and the Majlis al Jinn on the Salmah-Plateau, Sur, Quriat, Wadi Daykah and lots of others. For some of the tours 4x4 vehical is required. The place was very quiet. Mobile phones were working. Restaurants and shops we found in Sur but also in Quriat, which is more far from the beachhouse. At the village of Fins they roasted lamb-kebab on the roadside and there was a small bakery-shop. What is always most impressive for us as guests to this country: people throughout Oman are extremely friendly to foreign visitors. U&F from Germany
