Positive: Authentic stone home in good location. Owner was attentive to issues.

Negative: Probably needed a compendium explaining heating and hot water supply. We had issues getting hot water to one of the rooms.

Negative: I should have done more research but surprised to find so few places to get food

Positive: A very good self-catering accommodation close to the ferry, a bit further to get to other parts of mainland Orkney but none of the places were too far to get to by car. Sheltered garden and warm bright conservatory to sit in. Lounge was comfortable and kitchen was reasonably well supplied. The village had two Public Houses; one a fairly expensive but nice fish restaurant and one very reasonably priced but more basic food. Two grocery stores. Compared to lots of places this had quite a bit going for it without having to go into Kirkwall or Stromness. Parking outside the property wasn't a problem.

Negative: Shower in main bedroom was a bit small but otherwise ok.

Summary: An excellently property to base a stay on Orkney
