This property, a converted dairy milking barn, is located at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains with convenient access to the Rainbow Trail that travels along the base of the mountains. This property has one of the closest accesses to several 14K peaks (Humboldt, Crestone Needles and Crestone Peak) as well as the many trails up to the lakes. Located nine miles south of Westcliffe, CO on 14 acres once dairy pasture land, there are views of the mountains for those who prefer to enjoy the sights in more leisurely fashion. Westcliffe is a dark skies community known for it's unlimited views of the nighttime skies. This is the place to see what the Milky Way really looks like.
The property is located between two creeks (South and Middle Colony) on property plentiful with pine, aspen and cottonwood trees. The cabin was renovated in 2019 with the addition of all new flooring and kitchen and laundry appliances as well as new dining room, living room and bedroom furniture. A ready Weber BBQ is available for use as well.
There is over-the-air TV viewing as well as a collection of DVD's to watch. Internet is via any mobile smartphone service as other internet services are not yet available. Binge watching is limited to the available DVD's or DVD's brought from home as well as, of course, the mountain views and dark sky vistas.

Summary: The cutest spot! We were in Westcliffe for a wedding and Bill and Sallie’s VRBO was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed our quiet mornings watching the wildlife from the porch. The house/rooms are all a perfect size. It had everything we needed and more, and check in was beyond easy. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area!!

Summary: Our family of four stayed for several nights at this wonderful cottage in the woods. Of all the VRBOs we've stayed in, this had the best amenities: laundry, toiletries, grill, dishes, utensils, seasonings, etc. And we loved the modern/barn decor. The owners really pulled it off :) Nestled in the willows and aspens, you have a lot of privacy and beautiful meadows to explore. We saw a porcupine, nighthawks, wild turkeys, and a doe and fawn. The hosts live in a nearby house on the property and are available if you need anything.

Summary: A comfortable, unique, and rather eclectic place. Very helpful hosts. The forest surrounding the converted barn is beautiful, inviting and smell's so good in the morning. A great horned owl family provided the natural sound scape along with the two streams bordering the property. We'd diffentely stay there again.

Summary: This place is in a beautiful setting tucked in the woods. It has a large deck in front which is great for relaxing and hanging out, or star watching at night. Its a short drive to the Main Street in Westcliff and to hiking trails. The Great Sand Dunes National Park was an easy 2 hour drive from the property. The house is well maintained and very comfortable for a long weekend. I highly recommend it if you want to stay in this area.

Summary: We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The property is set in a treed area, but a short walk took us to a beautiful meadow and a gurgling stream, with views of the mountains. The hosts have thought of everything in stocking and furnishing this cozy, comfortable house. They live just down the lane, and are available to answer questions and offer assistance. The picture of the outside of the house doesn’t show the updates in paint colors and a nice, new deck with Adirondack chairs. It looks wonderful! We enjoyed seeing the starry skies and visiting the nearby towns of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff for grocery shopping and dining out. The area is surrounded by ranches, and we were delighted to follow a herd of cattle being driven down the county road as we drove to the property. We also saw two Amish families in buggies driving down the road on two different days. We plan to return next summer! The hosts have provided a wonderful place for a relaxing stay.

Summary: Bill and Sallie's place was the best-equipped place my husband and I have ever stayed in, and we've stayed in a lot of VRBOs! They were great - helpful, personable - and the rental is very tastefully decorated near a stream beneath the star-studded Westcliffe sky. We're hikers and there were so many trails nearby it was hard to decide which to try. The scenery was beautiful and the trails were far less crowded than anything closer to Denver. It's so quiet you won't believe it. Our recommendation is - GO!

Summary: This is a great spot! My family of 4 plus one friend stayed for two nights, and all wished for longer. We sat outside at the picnic table to eat, cooked in the very well-outfitted kitchen, went on a gorgeous hike nearby, enjoyed the deer and birds the property, had a movie night, and relaxed on the deck with coffee in the mornings and drinks in the evenings. It's a great setup, allowing a family like ours comfortable space to hang out together and also to spread out. The furnishings are really nice and it's all very clean. The hosts left a great list of local food and services plus information about/instructions for things in the house. They have really put a lot of care into making this a comfortable, welcoming, special place to stay. Many nice touches!
