Sleeps - 2. This beautifully secluded but not isolated semi detached cottage is full of character with a stunning 14m x 5m heated swimming pool (heated 1st July to 31 August).
Set in its own grounds of 3 hectares, surrounded by panoramic views of the rolling Limousin woodlands, forests and open meadows. It catches the amazing early morning sunrise and evening sunset. It is totally secluded, not another property in sight, bliss !
The cottage consists of a lounge with open views and glorious sunsets, a kitchen dining area with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, cooker, airconditioning unit and heating if required. Ensuite bedroom with shower, toilet and wash hand basin, towels provided.
Please note this cottage is not suitable for handicapped people as there are stairways of approximately 6 steps to each of the 2 levels. Immediately outside you have a covered terrace, there's is an outdoor seating area with a BBQ (charbon) and sunbeds provided, all enclosed in your private garden. Parking space.
The swimming pool area is partially enclosed with access to a small gym and further sunbeds and seating.
Amenitiees on site : Badminton, basketball, table tennis facilities.
Charbon BBQ facilities.
Your only neighbours are ourselves and we are very discreet.
This delightful peaceful property is reached by an enchanting path of 200m which can also lead you onto the local swimming lake Sagnat.
Lake Sagnet which can be reached direct from the property by 3 different woodland paths approximately 7kms round trip ideal for walkers, cyclists road and VVT, running, swimming, triathlete training, fishing is allowed around the lake , you do have to purchase a fishing permit ( request details )
Bessines sur Gartempe is a very pretty village approximately 5kms from the property where you have, restaurants, supermarkets, cafe/bars, bakers, butchers, banks and the motorway all within 6/7 minutes drive from the property and of course numerous markets througout the week in Bessines Sur Gartempe and the surrounding villages. Come the July 10th - 14th 2025 you have an added attraction of the Bandafolies festival, hugely popular with musical artistes, dancers, groupes etc from around the world and the firework display,

Summary: We stayed here for a week in August 2024. The property was great - it was so good to be able to be together as a family in one place. The house is well equipped, particularly the kitchen which has plenty of anything you might need. The outside space was amazing and just what we needed to keep a wide age range of individuals occupied. Plenty of activities to choose from including badmington, table tennis, bikes and of course the pool. The surrounding area is rural and peaceful - a great place to rest and relax. Whilst the Boulangerie and shops are only a few minutes away by car. The weather was good for us which was the icing on the cake. Leslie and June were great hosts and were quick to respond when we needed any help. Overall it was a great week for us and everyone enjoyed themselves, thank you.

Summary: Pool area and grounds are lovely. House was pleasant and characterful but bedrooms very hot and not air conditioned ( rather a heatwave). The property worked well for our varied ages. Kitchen was rather tired and aga and oven difficult to use. It would have been useful to have some basic instructions and information on the house, the area, refuse collection etc. The hosts were kind and were there when we arrived to show us round.

Summary: June and Les were excellent hosts. We had 14 people stay at their farm house and it easily accommodated all of us with plenty of amenities and towels, bedding for all. This is like a little resort with outdoor games, a beautiful pool and so much space that we were not cramped for space. 5 star VRBO and would stay there again when visiting the area.

Summary: Such a lovely and entertaining place to get away from it all for a week. Great wifi and well equipped. Huge property and so much to explore, within the house, the grounds, and all around. The host, Houghes, was simply the best, most helpful, most accommodating host. We had some issues of our own and he bent over backwards to help us out. Always there with a helpful suggestion or to meet our needs. Many thanks.

Summary: The villa is set in massive grounds which are great for children. There are plenty of amenities like table tennis and a large pool which everyone enjoyed. The house is well provisioned with cleaning materials, towels etc and a lovely welcome basket of local produce was waiting for us on arrival. A number of kitchen appliances need updating including hob and ovens. One shower leaked and one air con dripped onto the floor. With 12 of us the seating area outside the kitchen needed levelling to prevent anyone accidentally falling off their chair. Our hosts communicated really well. One suggestion would be some recommendations, maps and leaflets on local sites. There is far more than I expected to do in the local area and it wasn’t too busy. Overall though we really enjoyed our time .

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at the property. June & Les were great hosts. The 8 kids in the party loved the swimming pool and all the activities. The house is perfect for families with lots of great touches. The welcome pack of drinks and snacks was also lovely. The house is quirky and suited the 12 of us really well. The dishwasher didn't clean the dishes so it was washing up by hand for the week which was slightly irritating but that was the only thing. Lake St Pardoux took 15 mins to get to and provided a great family fun day out kayaking on the lake and zip lining through the trees. A fantastic holiday and we will be back!

Summary: We had an absolutely fantastic time in the house. The grounds are large and pretty and a lovely place to get away from it all. The house is in a secluded location but supermarkets and the village of Bessines-sur-Gartempe are close enough to get supplies easily. The grounds and facilities are perfect for all the family and it was very well provisioned. The pool in particular was very popular with the younger members but being gated and only 2m deep at the deepest point gave us peace of mind. We enjoyed great weather and often ate outside, played badminton, table table and pool, all of which had the equipment provided. Plenty of equipment was available to cook meals for our large group. The beach at Lac de saint pardoux was lovely and we took advantage of the kayaks, pedaloes and paddle boards, Go Ape style adventure park and water park/swimming pool. We barely visited anywhere else! Lac du Sagnet is walkable distance from the house and good for running around if you like that sort of thing. There is also a small beach there and a bar. All round a great holiday location enjoyed by all of our group. Thank you Les and June!

Summary: First impressions of the house were incredible, driving up the lane and through the trees to park, the house and hosts were welcoming and charming! The house is spacious, and well equipped, and incredibly versatile, it suited our two families just perfectly and there was plenty of room to spare! Best was the enormous garden, and fenced pool area, with room to eat, play and swim. The undercover pool was quickly put to good use, despite the rain that began shortly after our arrival! The roof was equally appreciated in the hot sun that followed! We loved walking (30 mins) to the local lake for a swim, and driving into Bessines (10 mins) to the bakery in the mornings for croissants. June and Les were very discreet hosts, but very helpful when required. We would thoroughly recommend this property for anyone looking for a rural escape.
