Positive: Everything! It was absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. The hosts gave us a hearty welcome as well as lots of information about local sights, restaurants, grocery stores, even tide tables! There were lots of thoughtful touches, too… shoe dryers provided on a particularly rainy day, special garb for women to wear in a co-ed onsen if desired, a lovely scented spray to spritz on the pillows to aid in sleep!
Negative: Nothing at all.
Summary: The perfect place to relax and enjoy a few days on the magical Yakushima!

Positive: It is a beautiful natural wood house with views toward the sea on one side and the mountain on the other side. It is set in a lovely garden. The large windows are spectacular. Each detail is thoughtful, and the feeling of belonging to wild nature is in every room.

Positive: Everything about our stay at Cottage Views was magical - the backyard, the house itself, the location, the views. It was deeply inspiring and Shoji and Mami were the most generous hosts. Ending a long day of hiking with a soak in the deep bathtub and homemade wild strawberry ice cream (!!) was an added bonus. It was the highlight of our entire trip to Japan and we would love to come back some day soon!

Positive: On arrival our hosts greeted us with the freshest, tastiest orange juice and explained the running of the cottage, showed us maps and advised us on the basics of the Island. They were so kind and attentive. The cottage is set up perfect. The kitchen is set up to cook our meals after a full day of site seeing. You must try the rock bath, it is such a nice experience and there is also a sauna which the hosts set up and gave us everything you could possibly need for the sauna. We had some delicious home made OJ ice cream which was a lovely surprise. It is best to have a hire car as the cottage is approx 45 mins away from the ferry, plus you will be able to see a lot more the Island has to offer. If you want a homely unique experience you can’t go wrong with The Cottage views.

Positive: We LOVED everything! The hosts were exceptionally lovely, helpful and informative. We wished we stayed longer and are keeping this place in the back of our mind for when we wish to come back to Japan. The house was so cozy and we enjoyed being there every single moment. If you're looking for a place worthy to stay at for a honeymoon, this is it! (& Don't forget to rent a car! It completes the trip.) Thank you!

Positive: The house is so comfortable quiet and relaxing and having the worst tropical storm in years it felt safe and secure It’s on the best part of the island close to a few shops and 2 bakeries and 3 brilliant onsens. However what makes it so great are the couple who own it who are so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Despite the terrible weather we loved staying on Yakushima but so lucky to have found this house

Positive: The amazing island Yakushima along with its friendly people. We had an amazing experience for our last stop of our honeymoon trip to Japan. We rented a car for the days we were staying and this is really recommended since you're able to explore and see much more of the island. Shouji-san and Mami-san were super kind and we facilitated us in every way possible. Thank you so much for an unforgettable trip!
