Positive: Cute cottage, private deck with access to the river, very clean, coffee and tea provided, super convenient location in the heart of Lake Cowichan.
Negative: The amount of emails I was receiving from the property, plus $500 deposit held for days and paid outside of Booking.com. They also charge $95 cleaning fee and tell you to check out at 10am and do your dishes despite that very high cleaning fee.

Positive: Location was perfect, right in the middle of town and on the waterfront. Was so lovely to have the dock right outside and the garden view from living room. The games room was cute, my little boy loved it. Everything you needed was there with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom.
Negative: Only that both beds were in the same room which made it difficult for privacy. Everyone had to go to bed at the same time and get up at same time because you’re sleeping in the kitchen so to speak. Not so easy when navigating nap times with a little one.
Summary: Modern and very clean, amazing location.

Positive: The location was great. For us, close to dinner, snacks and breakfast! It was very clean, easy to find and get into. Bed was comfortable, living space just right for the two of us overnight. Separate entrance was nice too.
Negative: 2:30 am an Air Raid Siren woke us up even though we wear earplugs. I guess that is normal for Cowichan Lake residents but it was a little concerning for us visitors. Husband did not get back to sleep. With a $95 cleaning fee added on top of the cost to stay there - maybe don't ask your visitors to clean up before they leave.
Summary: Nice place, easy to book and access. Good communication. Great location. Comfortable and clean.

Positive: We arrived earlier than expected and they were nice enough to let us check in 30 min before! There's a cute coffee place next door with outdoor seating, a small park to temporarily park you car (in case street parking is full) and there's a bridge that connects to a park on the other side of the river. The bridge offers gorgeous views of the water and you can see the people in the lazy river. The cottage itself was very cozy and clean - exactly like the pictures! We were a party of 4 and enjoyed our stay in Cottage # 7. It had a double bed plus a bunk bed that fit all 4 of us. I believe the couch was also a pullout but we did not use it for sleeping - I appreciate the electric fan in the bedroom and the AC. I also like how the bathroom already had big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available. We also cooked all our meals and the kitchenette was very nice! We used their Ninja airfryer toaster oven and they had a double burner induction cook top that you can put away in the bottom drawers. Now on the best part - the view and access to the river. The cottage has a large backyard that overlooks the water. Plenty of seating in the backyard and there's a BBQ grill (did not use). Our unit had seating on the patio and a table. My mom loves to crochet so she spent most of the afternoon outside on deck. We brought our paddle board so we enjoyed the convenience of being able to launch it right along the river. The area before the bridge was great for paddling as the water is deeper. Once you paddle past the bridge, its harder to paddle upstream as you are opposite of the current so it may take longer to get back. We absolutely loved our stay that we didn't even bother to drive anywhere else the next 4 days and enjoyed exploring the area. We will definitely be back!
