3 Bedroom Cottage in Perry, Emsdale

Welcome to the cottage! Ideal for a small or large family getaways. Cozy and comfortable for summer and winter fun. The main cottage is two bedrooms, 1 bath, with air conditioning in the main area and an attached screen room. The cottage is located on Hog Lake, with 300 feet of water frontage, and sits wonderfully close to the lake on an 4 acres of land. We have also added a optional dwelling with a king suite (an extra $100/night $700/wk), 1 bath with its own living room with air conditioning for those that want to vacation with family but still have a little getaway of their own to escape to for quiet nights and leisurely sleep in mornings.

The interior is charming and comfortable with the feel of a vintage cottage with all the modern amenities needed to satisfy the family. Including recently added air conditioning in the main area. The comfy living room has large windows on two walls for amazing views of the lake and the yard. The galley kitchen and open dining/living area face out to the covered porch where you can find shade and enjoy a coffee with beautiful views of the lake or watch a game of horseshoes. The newly attached screen room is accessible from the kitchen/dining area and will be you favorite place to sit out to avoid any pesky little flies. The cottage sleeps 6 + 1(or a cozy 2 on the pull out sofa). The detached King suite sleeps 2 + 2(on pull out sofa)
Always a treat to cook your meals outside on a Napoleon gas BBQ or if you choose on a charcoal BBQ for the added cottage taste if you choose. BBQ is now directly connected to propane so be sure to turn it off after each use.
Being on a small no motor lake you can enjoy the peacefulness of lazy summer days. Picture yourself diving into the water off your own dock and swimming or just floating away your afternoon. The cottage rental comes with a adult size kayak, canoe, pedal boat, paddle board and a tin boat with an electric motor for fishing or a tour of the lake. Bass, perch and pike fishing can be had just off the dock, some extra fishing supplies are located in the storage shed if needed. At the end of a hard day of fun, relax in the cedar sauna.

The cottage is right on snowmobile trail #95 and just 110 meters from Top trail D (Seguin Trail) for your ATV four wheeling, hiking adventures or cross country skiing or snowmobiling trips. If you have an ATV or snowmobile you can ride into the town of Kearney which is 4km away where you will find restaurants/pub, LCBO and a few others or Novar which is 12km away where you will find Foodland with a Subway and micro LCBO. The cottage is also in close proximity for daytime shopping trips into Huntsville (24km away), world class golfing at Deerhurst and Grandview or long days of hiking and exploring in nearby Algonquin Park. In Huntsville you will also find the Independent, Walmart, Canadian Tire and many other things to do on a rainy afternoon. Summary: Always a pleasure visiting the Hog Lake property. Our third year here ! While the water was not as warm as last year, it was refreshing on the days when the sun came out. Property was clean, as always and Donna & Keith were always on call and happy to help with a few glitches ( found the new batteries for the TV remote!). New A/C was nice on the few nights we needed it. Fishing this year was way better. At least 4 pound- pound and a half bass right off the dock. We'll be back next year. Thanks Donna & Keith.

Summary: Donna and Keith’s cottage was one of the best cottage experiences! They keep the place extremely clean and well maintained. They’re extremely friendly, communicative, and quick to respond. They trusted us with their cottage and were gracious hosts. The location was extremely private and quiet; there are others around the lake that you can see/chat with as they pass by on the lake, and it was a great addition! Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming, not to mention helpful. We brought our dog with us too, and the lake was pretty dog friendly (as in, others had their dogs too and it wasn’t a problem!). We all had a blast and are definitely looking forward to potentially booking with Donna and Keith again next year. We loved this place!

Summary: Wonderful vacation. The property is private and the cottage with all conveniences. The small lake shared by a few made the water activities very enjoyable. The owners were very prompt to respond to our minor issues.

Summary: Really enjoyed our two week stay. Best pre-arrival communication we've ever experienced. Cottage was pretty much as described, a little dark in the main living area. No sign of mice, but there were lots of small ants running around, mainly in the kitchen. The accommodations (seating and beds) were very comfortable. Had some problems with the WIFI on heavily overcast days. The beach, made up of loose sand, dropped off quickly. The lake is very small, very quiet, and just what we were looking for. Plenty of room outside for the four legged friends. Natural spring just up the road provided plenty of water to supplement the non-potable water from the taps. Overall, a really nice place to vacation.

Summary: Enjoyed the property immensely...again! Already booked next year. Very hot, but the water in the lake was perfect. If we could have slept in it ,it would have been great. Lots of flow through ventilation and some fans kept it comfortable on most nights. All the usual amenities. Fire pit got used for talks and marshmallows! Bass were biting off the dock. Not big except one! Catching them is always a treat. Swimming ...all the time. Trip into Huntsville was a nice break. A relaxing stay for the family....on our 50th wedding anniversary too!!

Summary: My family enjoyed the week at the cottage — the water access was great for my kids, they had fun playing on the beach area. Easy drives to places in the area, including Huntsville and Brook’s Falls. Next door neighbour entertained most evenings which made for some loud nights, especially as we kept windows open for fresh cool air. Overall, a great spot for small families looking for a place to enjoy the water and avoid crowded beaches.

Summary: Not your fancy hipster kinda cottage. It’s a family affair: a kitchen with ALL kinds of quality utensils, Franklin and sauna for cooler days, quiet swimmable lake, wifi, dvds and games. Big modern bathroom with laundry. Dog was happy too as it is a large place with plenty space to chase ball. Much recommended.
