Positive: The location was excellent—just a short walk from Brienz station—and the view of the lake from the balcony was truly beautiful.
Negative: I have traveled to over 50 countries and stayed in many different accommodations, but the check-in process and the host’s handling of it were the worst I have ever experienced. The property uses a key box with a 4-digit code provided by the host. However, the code we received was incorrect, and the box would not open. We sent three messages to the host asking for confirmation, but received no reply during the check-in time (around 4:30 p.m.). With no response, we spent about 30 minutes checking the map and walking around in the summer heat, wondering if we might be at the wrong property. Finally, we asked a staff member at the pizza shop located in the same building, who informed us that the code was wrong and kindly opened the box with the correct one. The code they used was completely different from what the host had provided. The host replied about an hour later. We requested that they consider a partial refund, and followed up four times afterward. However, the only replies we received were that the matter was “under management review.” Eventually, the replies stopped altogether. As of 13 days after check-in, we still have not received any further response. Providing guests with the wrong code is a very serious issue for any hospitality provider. Human errors can happen, but what was most disappointing was not acknowledging the mistake and then eventually becoming unresponsive. Others The listing mentions a portable air conditioner, but when switched to “cool” mode it did not produce cold air, functioning more like a fan. During the summer nights, it was quite warm even with it running. There was also noticeable dust and some dirt in the bathroom, which we ended up cleaning ourselves. We would recommend checking reviews on other booking sites before making a reservation.
Summary: Great location and view, but the worst check-in and host response I have ever experienced.

Positive: The location was amazing! Everything was within walking distance including the train station; Brienz cruise starting point;brienz rothorn train station and grocery store. And the view from the balcony was surreal. Would definitely recommend everyone to stay here if they are visiting Brienz. The Binos pizza being downstairs was a plus.
