Positive: The apartment super clean and comfortable just in front of the beach. Nice private area with police presence 24/7. Nice view of the beach from the balcony.
Negative: The beach was full of sargasso but that's not the property's fault.

Negative: On two occasions we arrived and the assigned parking lot was occupied by another vehicle. We think that they should have better identification of them. Even prepare an identification for the vehicle and keep it visible inside it. That visible card can be inside the apartment already prepared for the renter to place it in their vehicle and as well as the keys they keep it with them all the time.
Summary: The owner was very attentive to us, she responded very quickly and was aware that we were okay.

Positive: The very best thing about this property is the location. Even though it is across the street from the beach there is still an excellent view from the balcony, living room, kitchen and the front bedroom. It is very safe - you have to get through a locked gate onto the property and a locked door into the building before getting to the apartment door. The apartment is adequately furnished. The beds were very comfortable and the bedroom has room darkening shades. We didn't spend much time in the apartment but did find the living room sofa's reclining seats to be comfortable for watching a movie one night. The host was quick to respond to messages. The apartment is an easy beach walk to La Pared beach during the day. At night, we walked the main road to restaurants and the The Patio - a fun little beach view area with multiple food and drink options in shipping containers. Definitely check out the Cuban restaurant on the square - it was phenomenal!!! We (my 24 yr old daughter and I) felt quite safe walking around togeher at all hours. We also walked the main road in the opposite direction to the kiosks. We lucked out walking back on the beach as I was low tide. Not sure it is passable during high tide! There is a nice little convenience store within easy walking distance. A friendly bakery is closeby. The supermarket is within walking distance, too, but I wouldn't want to carry groceries that far. Fajardo is a short drive away, too.
Negative: Obtaining keys to the apartment was difficult especially since the code to get into the red box (which was partially obscured by the fence and quite difficult to find in the dark) was given upon arrival at the property. I had to call and wake the host in the wee hours of the morning which just felt wrong to me. There were no bath towels available when we arrived but the host was responsive and had someone come get them out of the bedroom closet within a few hours. Those things were inconvenient but not huge deals and I would probably not even mention them if they were the only problems. However, found the cleanliness of the apartment to be lacking in some areas - mainly the kitchen and bathroom (food particles in the microwave and kitchen drawers, dirty measuring cups, used coffee grounds in the coffee maker, streaks of coffee (?) on the cabinet doors, cleaning products not rinsed out of shower, unswept floors, and an extremely grimy decorative bowl on the kitchen table). I contacted the host and sent photos so she could see the condition in which we found the apartment. I suggested to her that part of my rental cost should be refunded since the issues were not fixed during our stay (I had asked that she have the cleaning person return and correct these things). She did respond with an apology but stated she couldn't issue a refund because we had stayed the duration of the reservation (true) and the person who got our towels had offered to sweep after I had pointed out debris on the bathroom floor (also true but we had not seen all of the other issues at that time since we didn't inspect the apartment up our 3ish am arrival). She ultimately refunded the $65 cleaning fee which I appreciated.

Positive: We liked the apartment, near a (more) secluded and lovely beach, but also quite near to some nice restaurants. Plenty of space, nice terrace, and washing & drying machine (useful when travelling) Safe location to leave the car and quiet environment (if you like the sound of the wind & the sea)
