Summary:
The cottages are simple, clean and adequately equipped. The beach is terrific and one can walk miles and see no one. At low tide the sand was wonderful. It was a safe place for kids to swim, collect shells and have fun. There are no activities except sun , sand ,and surf. Do bring all your groceries as there are no facility in the tiny town The beach bar and restaurant has the best conch fritters and lobster tails and is a one minute walk. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed our time here.. The area does look a little worn down from the recent hurricanes but these cottages are well cared for. We especially enjoyed his mothers wonderful cooking.. The lobster she made us was better than the restaurants we ate at on a different night.
The kayaks were a lot of fun!
Fresh coconuts from the trees as a special treat from the owner was exciting for the kids.
We loved staying on sand!
We struggled not having a washing machine with two kids for 5 days but they did offer their washing machine to us. I think they are building a laundry and games room, as well as mini golf, convenience store, and local-style restaurants next door.. There's not much up this end of the island so this is becoming quite the resort!
The sand flies got to us a bit so be sure to bring your preference of bug deterrent.
The air-conditioner works very well but we only used it to the cool the place down before bed in the evenings since we went in winter/early spring. It was also a little breezy during the day, with quite a bit of seaweed around but lovely white powder sand as you'd expect!
Adorable little place with very warm and friendly owner :)

The beach was the most magnificent thing we have ever seen. Steve was wonderful to work with and had great ideas for things to do. It is about a 1 hour drive to the city so if it's peace and quiet you want then this is the place for you.

WE HAVE BEEN going to Grand Bahama for years and did know East end was PARADISE! if you love the beach, quiet laid back off the grid this is it, The villas run by the Laing Family at Pelican Point is a once and a life time paradise, The villas beautifully appointed tile floors thru out, Bathrooms adjoin rooms, kitchens have every thing you need and on the ocean, hear the lap of the turquoise waters from your room!
That said the community of Pelican Point is small every one knows every one and is a safe area, The Laing Family is such great hosts one night we had a Bahamian favorite cooked and brought over to our Villas served in restaurant serving dishes the meal was fabulous!Steve their son can arrange tours to boiling holes to inland sinks all which we did on our own being familiar with the sites,
The location on the ocean at low tide I would walk daily on the flats with a sun hat and swim suit for miles seeing the totally awesome sites ,sand bars, flats, marine life and perfect un spoiled beaches with out a soul on them next all be it a local fisherman may be passing on the ocean! Words cant explain!photos either!
The villas are a 40 minute ride in to the main city on the Grand Bahama Highway Freeport, down the road West is the Sleepy village of High Rock with a restaurant, and a bit further the gas station home to Smittys road side stand Chicken In Da bag, and great breakfasts but be on time Food is GREAT!
The villas have everything you need! Cell service via Att with Pass port package gave us Wifi/data and spotless cell coverage end to end on the Island as the location is great for family's and couples that can stand to be off grid and rely on processioning well to save trips back and forth to main city due to loss of beach time!
We will be back as the location, The laings hospitality, the Villas spotless condition,The beach, the miles of un disturbed beaches to explore with out ever seeing a soul make this a perfect location as with most other travel destinations your always having travelers near by!
Remember your tide charts as the islands beaches are best enjoyed at LOW TIDE! our stay was in July slow season for USA visitors and waters of the ocean bath tub warm

Summary:
If you're looking for a quite, breathtaking, fantastic location - alone or with your family - this is the place you should book! We, my husband and my 2 girls (2 & 4y), stayed there for 2 1/2 weeks. There is nothing comparable: you can see and hear the beach from your bed, from the kitchen and from the living room…and the beach is sooo beautiful! When there was low tide, the girls walked alone to the sandbank, to play in the sand over there - surrounded by the calm sea!
Yes, you should rent a car! There is not a lot to explore on the island, but you need it, to get the groceries (which are very, very expensive on the island!) or to go to mcleans town, where you can have dinner at EJs restaurant.
Steve, the host, really cares for his guests! He gave us advices, took us out with his boat for snorkeling and water skiing, he took care of the girls while we were snorkeling around a blue hole he showed us, he played card with the girls, brought something against the sun flies we had the first night (could be, that there are sun flies around when the sun goes down), he organized someone who helped us with the car, which we couldn't start after 3 days - there is much more to say about Steve, but you should met him! His an excellent host - and his mum is around and will help you in all belongings.
The house is fully equipped with what you need. The towels are soft and smell very good :-) The AC works perfect.
If you don't need entertainment and other tourists - its the perfect place. We could recommend it without doubt: We felt in love and so did our girls….
Thank you, Steve, for building these houses….

Summary:
My husband & I stayed at Sandy Beach Villas for nearly a week with another couple. The 2-bedroom villa had plenty of space, everything was clean and we had everything we needed. We could hear the surf from our bedroom, what a treat!
Steve is an EXCELLENT host who goes above the call of duty to make sure his guests enjoy their stay. He provided us with snorkelling gear, spears for lobster hunting (which was a huge success - fresh lobster for dinner two nights in a row! Once courtesy of Steve's mother who lives across the street & is a fantastic cook, and the second night we cooked them ourselves in our amply supplied kitchen), took us out on his boat to fish and snorkel the blue holes, gave us plenty of fishing advice, made kayaks available... couldn't ask for a better host.
Pelican Point is a good hour outside of Freeport/Lucaya, so you'll need a rental car (& map!) and should stock up on food/bottled water before you drive out to the villas. Food is pricey since it's all imported, so we brought plenty of 'camping snacks' from home too. The advantage of this distance is that you won't be fighting crowds for beach space and you'll get to explore miles of beach and ocean without seeing a soul; if you need lots of city entertainment/ night life provided you might be happier staying at a big resort.
The beach itself is perfect - miles of white sand, crystal clear water, and many other beaches to explore within walking or driving distance. About 50ft down the beach from the Villas is a restaurant/bar (fairly new, I believe) called Bahama John's, where you can find some of the best BBQ and seafood you will ever eat. Bring cash if you plan to try it out (and we strongly recommend that you do!).
We left our 2yo daughter at home with grandparents this time, but we could easily have brought her along. The Villas are so close to the beach, and everyone we met was so friendly and kind, that I would've felt totally comfortable leaving her inside napping and going to lay out in the hammock! Pretty kid-proof inside too.
This is probably not a wheelchair-accessible vacation, if that's something you need to consider, since all the Villas do have steps leading to the front & back porches, and paths are sandy not paved.
Other than that, we'd recommend Sandy Beach Villas to anyone, and would love to go back! We felt so refreshed by the end of our time there, not only by the stunning surrounding but also the hospitality of our Bahamian hosts. Thanks, Steve!!

If you like being off the beaten path this place is for you. We were there on July for a week and literally had a half of mile of beautiful beach to our selves. Inland the weather was hot and steamy but with the ocean breeze the oceanfront was amazing. Steve and his mom were the nicest people you will ever meet. They will make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need to truly enjoy your stay. He went out of his way to take us fishing so we can have fresh fish to eat and checked on us few times throughout the trip to make sure we were having a fabulous time. The beaches were pristine and the villas were beautiful and modernly furnished. We can't wait to be back!!....Hi Steve we will see you soon, hopefully this year!

Summary:
This is the perfect escape destination. There are five houses here and during most of our stay we were the only visitors. We had a private beach and beautiful weather.
Because the town is so isolated, you must be sure to purchase everything you will need prior to arrival - this includes food and drink, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. There is nothing nearby. The town has about 15 homes and no store - the nearest store is in Freeport.
The homes offer all you could need unless you are very particular. The basics are there, the homes are clean, and Steve will make sure any outstanding needs are taken care of. If you're looking to be waited on hand and foot, however, go elsewhere. You'll track sand in to the house, you'll discover what sand flies are, and you'll love it the whole time. We will never forget this trip.

Please visit the website for more pictures and a video. My wife and I had a very pleasant time during the visit. After renting a car from the airport, we drove very easily to the village. We were essentially amazed by the crystal blue waters, the tranquility of mornings and how less people there were than in resort areas. This is a truly experiance "What bahamas is all about!" Steve and his mom as well as the community are very respectful of privacy so I recommend this place to honeymooners. He made us feel safe and entertained. We went snorkeling to see coral reefs, water skiing, conch catching, and drank fresh coconut water. On some days we drove into Freeport on the way to the port.
If you decide to rent, then ask Steve if he can stock your refrigerator with waters, food, or snacks.
We had a memorable time.
Thanks
