Summary: This is a great little house - very central location and in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Unlike some of the other reviews, I had no problem communicating with the property owner via email. Like some of the other reviewers, I found the lack of "check-in/out" materials a bit disconcerting, but not enough to really make a huge difference in our stay. I emailed Joe with the questions I had and he replied quickly. My only criticism would be that the house wasn't particularly clean - it was absolutely not dirty or anything like that but more attention to detail in the cleaning would make a big difference. It really didn't bother me too much because I stayed with kids and dogs...which are notoriously dirty creatures...but I can see how other people might be a bit put-off by it. Overall, we had a lovely stay - the neighborhood is great, the back deck was a great place to hang out and the house was very well-appointed. Thanks for a lovely stay in Bend!

Summary: Read Description Carefully. I debated about leaving a review, but I heavily rely on them when choosing where to stay. I came upon this property for us, thought it looked good, but certain things about the description popped out at me - which I emailed the owner. First the property was listed on VRBO as a 2-bed, but the owner description was a one. Also, the word "access" used as far as using the rooms. I had the feeling that we would be sharing the home, which the owner assured me that we would be the only ones there during our stay. The day before I had to contact the owner for the code to access the home as I was not sent any instructions. There were no check in or departure instructions at the home or online. Believe I looked every where! Upon arrival, we unloaded our car & proceeded to put groceries in the kitchen - the fridge was fully stocked as if a family lived there (with perishables). We, then, felt weird that someone would be coming home at any time. But, we accepted it. Certain things we had experienced at VRBO stays were not there - such as instructions. I had contacted the owner via the VRBO app, but didn't hear from him (this was the form of communication from the start). We decided to stay somewhere else for the weekend & moved out of the property the following day (I booked for 2 nights). The owner did point out that the description & the photos truly depicted the property - which I have to admit was true. It's my fault, I should pay more attention & trust my gut. It wasn't a good fit for us. On a side note, this is a 2 bedroom home (although possibly 3 as one room was locked) and it was clear that the renter should stay in one specific room. * 2.5 stars *

Summary: Joe is an awesome host. It's hard to find an entire home for the price and this place didn't disappoint. Great back deck/yard for our pup and tons of space. Comfy bed and Joe left a bottle of wine for us as a welcome gift! We loved visiting Bend and wished we could've stayed longer. Joe is super responsive and really helped us through some unforeseen circumstances during our stay. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in Bend!
