Charming cabin on Otter Lake in the Adirondacks - lots of natural wood. 15 minutes from Old Forge and Water Safari. Fire pit and wood stove (wood provided). Boathouse has 4 kayaks, fishing poles, and swim accessories you may use. The ducks are friendly, as well as the people. Come catch a breeze and relaxing lake view from the wonderful porch! Wifi and Roku TV available too.
The house was built in 1906 and has been upgraded over the years. It is slanted and rickety but has lots of character. New roof 2022. Foundation, garage, and boathouse repair 2021. Electric modernization 2019. Internet installation 2018. Full bath and dining room added in the 70s. Still no house insulation - it's a summer cabin. The wood stove helps on chilly nights.

Summary: We can up for our annual enchanted forest water Safari trip for Father’s Day weekend and decided to look for a cabin on a lake rather than stay in old forge at a hotel. This was the perfect spot! Rustic, cozy, and good sized for our family of five. The kayaks and dock were a hit for being on the lake. We were able to have fires and make S’mores. The wood stove and space heater made the nights and mornings comfortable. Would definitely like to return!

Summary: Location and scenery are beautiful. The cabin on the the other hand, what a nightmare! It has that rustic cabin in the woods look which i liked. The problem was we froze! The place has no insulation in the walls which was not mentioned in the listing. The owner told us this a few days before our stay which was too late to cancel. He said there was a wood burner so we would be ok. Ha! There is no blower on the wood burner so unless you are within 3 feet of it, it was pretty much useless. Was supposed to be and intimate weekend getaway but instead of taking clothes off we had to put on layers! The other issue which is also a safety concern is the bathrooms. The smell is unbearable!!!! I can only describe it as the smell of a completely full outhouse thats been sitting the sun for months. Could barely stay in there long enough to use the toilet wothout getting sick to my stomach let alone even attempt to take a shower. Being a contractor, I did some looking around and noticed there are no traps on the drain pipes allowing toxic gases and smells to come up from whatever septic system it has, if any. We rented the place for only a weekend (Friday afternoon through sunday). We basically drove around the area most of the time just so we could be somewhere warm. As soon as we got out of bed on Sunday morning, around 630am, we packed up and left cutting out trip short. Between owning a couple businesses and having children my fiance and I dont have much extra time to get away alone together. We had been really looking forward to this trip for months but it was completely ruined! Gonna attempt to get a refund.

Summary: This property was perfect for our family. The kids enjoyed jumping off the dock and swimming all week. We took the kayaks out daily and the waterfront was comfortable for reading and relaxing. We used the fire pit almost every night and had meals on the screened in porch. We hope to return in future.

Summary: Beautiful lakefront property- everything you need is here. Kayaked the lake together and built a few campfires. Our son loved feeding the ducks that go to and from the lake through the property and on our last morning we sat on the dock and watched a loon family hunting to feed their chick. The screened in porch is perfect for watching the lake at night and playing games while staying away from the mosquitos. Kitchen was well stocked and there were instructions left for anything you may have questions about.

Summary: Renting the property was easy and laid back..contact with owners very pleasant...there were a few things that I found odd,like personal hygiene things left in the tub that belonged to someone else some food items left in the fridge, like1/4 container of oj, was odd..but no deal breakers..we love the house..we felt very at home and enjoyed ourselves..lots of good perks for our family who love the adirondacks
