Positive: Aida was an impeccable host. She went the extra mile to make sure my stay was pleasant and that I could do the things I wanted to in Zaghouan, including organising a guide for the mountain, arranging taxis, and providing recommendations. The food was delicious, homemade and authentic. She also made great conversation - in French and English!

Positive: Good breakfast and good location. Dinner was also good. The owner is very interesting and an intellectual as well, which resulted in good conversations.

Negative: The bed frame is terrible. It is an made of a decorative iron railing, meaning that you cannot lean a pillow on it as it is not supported. So reading upright in bed was difficult. Also, the owner had told us that dinner was going to cost 60 Dirhams each but she ended up charging us 75. She probably had forgotten that she had already quoted us 60 previously... Since this was our first meal in our 10-day trip we could not tell whether this was a normal price or over the top compared to other places we were about to visit. In retrospect, it was our most expensive meal and not outstanding that might have justified a premium. I suspect that this is why the "value for money" is comparatively low.

Summary: Intelligent owner, nice Dar but make sure dinner price quoted is what you are actually charged

Positive: We really enjoyed staying in this wonderful house! The town is so pretty, and our host was lovely. We ate dinner at the house for all three nights - the food was some of the best we had in Tunisia and was different each night (approx 40/50 dinar per person, per night). Our host was very helpful and we enjoyed chatting with her (excellent English as well as French).

Negative: This is not a criticism of the house, but a warning that Google maps is not 100% accurate in the town. The location of the Dar is correct, but some of the roads marked as drivable are actually stairs! With a bit of patience you can find your way :) The road that the Dar is located on is drivable and you can find parking quite easily, but note that some of it one-way system.
