Sophisticated and charming, this architecturally inspired mid-century home offers an open floor plan with over 2,000 square feet of living space and all wood finishes. Beautiful soaring ceilings and fresh designer elements. This one level modern lodge with a step-down living room is sited on a private lot near Mirror Lake, within a 5 minute drive to everything downtown Highlands has to offer. Newly furnished, the home offers AC, Wi-Fi, Flat screen TVs, Fire Pit and a six person Hot Tub. There are 2 fireplaces – one in the living room and one in the dining area, hardwood floors and special touches throughout. Escape to this inviting mountain retreat to relax and recharge in nature and privacy.
Outside, there is a hot tub, stone terrace with fire pit and multiple Adirondack chairs – perfectly lit with cafe lights for romance and for making s'mores. Plus, a screened porch sitting area and connected wrap around dining/party deck with a Weber Gas Grill and umbrella-covered table and chairs. The home is on a private and serene lot surrounded by beautiful N.C. hardwood trees and a trail around the house. Level entry to porches from the house, only 2 steps to main entry from the driveway and covered parking area, and only 5 steps off the rear decks to the outdoor amenities for making memorable nights by a roaring fire.
Inside: 3 spacious bedrooms and 3.5 baths: 2 king bedrooms and the third bedroom with 2 queens... all with large closets. The fully equipped kitchen has everything like home: Keurig coffee maker, waffle maker, toaster oven, blender, pots and pans, mixer, olive oil, spices and more! Enjoy the utility of the kitchen island and separate wet bar and wine/beverage cooler. Laundry room with a large side by side washer/dryer! Office area for catching up on emails or planning your Highlands adventures.
Great location off Billy Cabin Road and near Half-Mile Farm by Old Edwards, less than 5 minutes to town, grocery, award-winning restaurants, Old Edwards Inn, the Wine Shoppe, and amazing boutique shopping! Walk down the hill to Mirror Lake or Apple Lake where you can walk around the lake communities... lovely any time of year! And there is nothing like hiking to the local waterfalls and the mountain parks. Enjoy a toast on Sunset Rock or Glen Falls just minutes away!

Summary: We spent New Year's in Highlands with one other couple and our dog. The house was delightful and very convenient to downtown Highlands. It is better than the photos. We enjoyed the comfy great room for relaxing and playing games, and the fireplace was wonderful. The kitchen is new and modern. We found the bed extremely comfortable and slept late every morning! The hot tub was also a treat! We would definitely rent this house again.

Summary: We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Dolly Lodge for four nights over Christmas. A beautiful, comfortable, well-furnished home with an incredible kitchen. The fireplace was a wonderful addition for our stay. Phil was a great host and readily available to answer questions. We would love to return! Highly recommend, any time of year.

Summary: Our family travels to Highlands each fall and we rent homes every time we come to town. This property was certainly one of our favorites. We stayed over the week of Thanksgiving. Dolly Lodge is a large beautiful upscale mountain home that is well appointed and beautifully decorated. My family included small children and parents (6 people) that stayed comfortably as the home has 3 bedrooms (two primary rooms) and a separate room two beds) all on the main floor which was nice because most other properties are two story which makes it hard with tiny children. The dual wood burning fireplaces, cozy family room, outdoor hot tub and fire pit, and the large designer kitchen were our favorite features of this stunning home. This rental is very clean and the owner communicates promptly and the home has everything you could possibly need. The property is a very close drive to town, although it is located up a very winding road that takes a bit of driving to get up and down. We got lost a few times but quickly managed to get the hang of the drive as we made multiple trips to town each day as well as trips to Franklin, Clayton, and Dillard. We would 100% rent this property again and I highly recommend it. Thank you to the property owners for sharing this gem with us!

Summary: Beautiful property with everything you could need. Are too small dogs love the large yard and the surrounding area to walk in. We were there for two weeks and one of the weeks we had a fair amount of rain, but the house is perfectly situated to still enjoy your stay. It’s a quiet oasis surrounded by trees, which is very close to town but far enough away to relax and rejuvenate.

Summary: We were able to find the house just as described. We were able to relax and enjoy Highland. It is very convenient. Great kitchen that was well stocked. We checked in with the owner to see if we needed to do anything special when we were leaving. A real pleasure to talk with. Great place to get away and relax. Plan to make another trip to Highland and hope to be able to stay at Dolly Lodge.
