Summary: This hotel is situated with a beautiful view, right across the street from the Mosel River. We enjoyed sitting by the river on a bench with our drinks and watching the boats. And from our window we could see the castle on the hill. But we were disappointed with the room. Our first night we were given a room that was not clean (dust wads and hair in the floor and spiderwebs in the corners) with a disfunctional shower (shower doors were broken and shower didn’t drain). Also there was a loud barking dog in the next room. The next day they moved us to a better room, and it was clean with a working shower. They do have a restaurant, but it was all buffet-style self serve, which we don’t like. So we ate at other restaurants in the area.

Summary: Only stayed one night when visiting the area with a family member. We had a friendly greeting and our host spoke English. It’s a pet friendly hotel as we had a small dog with us. The mattress and quality of the bedding were superb as was the Prija soap in the loo. Breakfast available for €18 but there is a bakery nearby (closed Wednesdays) for a cheaper option. Quiet area in a quaint village. Wifi did not work in the rooms only lobby area.

Summary: Was a great place to stay for a few nights on our Europe road trip from UK. Alken was quiet with lots of history, and is around 45 minutes from the Nurburgring, so was perfect for us!
