Positive: Lovely out of town nature area. The area is very touristy, so we loved the fact that this place was a bit oit of town and more quiet. Also compared with the other villages wel love San Juan the most. Very friendly staff en amazing setup with the lovely cabins in the middle of nature.
Negative: The bed was pretty hard. That's probably just a matter of personal preference. The restaurant is great but limited. And the choices in the village in this time of the year too. We ate at Soco's down the road one evening and loved it. So if you like so.more variation that could be an option

Positive: The gardens were absolutely beautiful! We loved finding fresh avocados dropping from the trees, identifying the flowers, and seeing Bunches of bananas! The communal kitchen was wonderful. There were very sweet dogs to play with, and the boys were so happy to be able to drive their trucks in some dirt. We loved doing yoga on our little patio and sitting in the hammock. After spending time in the city, this was just a beautiful retreat! We also really enjoyed the weaving tour and the stingless bees tour that were included.
Negative: The trade-off was that it was about a 10 minute walk to get into town. We love the composting toilets, but they did have a little bit of a smell. Might have been nice to be able to burn some incense at night. The mosquito nets over the beds were helpful, but it would have been great to have screens over the windows or door so we could open up.
Summary: A true Eco hotel, a beautiful natural setting!

Positive: Mayachik is a lovely place to stay away from the crowds. The gardens are cozy and provide plenty of privacy for relaxation. The bungalows are sealed very well, so little to no critters get inside. The shower is hot, and a traditional sauna makes a great addition to the experience. All food is freshly prepared, and they happily hold the food in case you’re running late. Filtered water is an essential bonus.
Negative: For such a tranquil place, it is very loud at night. The village dogs, roosters, and parties made my sleep inconsistent and overall poor. Pillows also could use improvement; however, the blankets were in abundance. Additionally, one team member was sneezing a lot as he was handling my food and money. He shared very casually that he had a flu, which doesn’t strike me as a safe practice when working with guests and handling their food.

Positive: The staff were lovely and the restaurant food was great and at a good price. It was nice and quiet with lovely Mountain View’s as you walk around the property. The showers were warm and the room spacious (we had an en suite)
Negative: As a well travelled couple, we appreciated the intentions of it being an eco lodge, however in practice we found it was more rustic than we were expecting.

Positive: The place is a bit outside the city center – around a 20-minute walk – so if you’re looking to stay right in the middle of the action, keep that in mind. My bungalow was mostly in the shade and quite uphill, so I’d recommend asking for one lower down for a nicer experience. The staff are super friendly, and the food at the restaurant is absolutely excellent.

Positive: I love the location! It's lush and green and overlooks the San Juan Mirador and mountains. Best of all it's quiet! The design and position of the cabins are great for privacy but also a bit of community building. Absolutely stunning restaurant with delicious and fresh food. Staff are incredible people full of information, warmth and passion. They are patient and kind. This place is absolutely perfect and possibly underrated. One of the best places I've ever stayed in my 20 years of solo travel. The photos do not do this place justice. It's pure unfiltered magic. Do yourself a favor and book the Temazcal (traditional sauna). You won't regret it. If you get lost, ask a local somewhat close by where Eco Hotel Mayachik is they will know right away. The lack of signage leading to the property is probably a good thing! Keeps it a little hidden. The dogs are friendly and only seem to bark at moving vehicles. One last thing....check for the spiky caterpillars before you climb into bed. One snuck under my pillow.
Negative: It's hard to come up with any complaints about this place.

Positive: The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable. Pretty grounds with flowers and vegetation. Communal kitchen and restaurant were nice to have since it was about a 15 min walk to town. Great smoothies and healthy drinks. Nice to have Tuk-Tuks available to get us to the property for 10Q per person. Good value for the price.
Negative: It was a little ways from the center of San Juan. There were pros and cons with this. Quieter regarding people but noisy from chickens and dogs at night. Nothing the property can do about this.
