Positive: we had a wonderful stay! the hosts are truly amazing and overly friendly and very helpful. We had so many nice talks together! the included breakfast as well as our dinners were muy rico every time. we really liked, that the hotel is ecofriendly and we enjoyed our first hot shower during our 4 weeks in Nicaragua. also the balcony is a cute hangout point with a perfect view over the river. there are a lot of shops around and the hotel is in the middle of El Castillo. I highly recommend to book tours over them, they offer various options and the guides are very professional, ethic and have great knowledge about the animals and the forest. we thank you a lot for the great time we had at your place and will come back when we are in the area again! we will cherish our time with you forever!

Positive: Small hotel with location directly on sshore (actually large part on pillars above) the San Juan river. We had room with terrace directly to river on first floor. The family who owns and manages the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. For instaance, they reserved for us seat on the boat back to San Carlos and helped us to get into the boat. On arrival, they waied for us at the landing and carrried our luggage. This compensates for the very small size of the rooms and bathroom
Negative: The room and the bathroom was very small, difficult to move when you also have to put your luggage

Positive: We were greeted at the port on our arrival and walked the short distance to the hotel. The hotel is situated in the center of the main walkway through town. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river. It was lovely to return to an air-conditioned room each day. Margarita and Manuel were exceptional hosts, willing to dispense advise and information about the area, and taking time to chat with us. Manuel organized tours into Indio Maiz and also night tours. They made arrangements with a local woman to prepare our dinners and delivered it to us at the hotel. When we both got sick with traveller's stomach, they looked out for us and arranged for supplies to be delivered to us. I highly recommend this location for your visit to El Castillo!

Positive: Luna del Rio is a gorgeous ecolodge with a stunning view of the San Juan river. Our room was very comfortable with a clean bathroom, a good shower and a lovely balcony too. The breakfast was delicious! Marga and Manuel were incredibly kind and helpful hosts and we felt so welcomed, it was lovely getting to know their family! We would highly recommend the full day guided tour of the Indio Maiz reserve. We saw all kinds of wildlife and spent an amazing day with our guide Denis. El Castillo itself is a beautiful town and the hotel is well located a short walk from the ferry port. Can’t recommend this place enough and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks so much Marga and Manuel :)
